your dreams
Newt Gingrich recently referred to democrats as a "secular socialist coalition seeking to change America radically."

Is this fair comment?

newt might be overstating it a little bit, but there is some truth to it, IMHO>

There would also be some truth in saying Republicans are a Jesus pimping, fascist coalition. But it wouldn't necessarily be fair comment. ;)

no, but in both cases there some that it fits. not most, some.
so there is some truth to it, but it is overstated.
and newts comment was much more polite than your crude drivel.

I would guess if they were polled, the majority of the non-far left wing of the democtratic party, you would find many of them are religous. Hell for that matter, a bunch of the far leftists are religious too. Kerry, Obama, Clinton just to name a few.

They're not secular at all.

They have a God: Big Daddy Big Gubmint.

Not only do they have a god, they are trying to one up constantly

"Oh yeah? My Bigger Daddy, Bigger Gubmint is bigger than your Big Daddy Big Gubmint"

Now if you said those comments about "the religious right" I wouldn't call you innacurate but if you made a blanket statement about republicans in the same vein I would say you were wrong.

Do we have a link to the context of that Newt Comment?

Speaking of newt...check this out

I'd say it's correct for the far left of the party.

So you think it's incorrect for the majority of democrats?

It sounds like he said the FAR LEFT not the majority....unless you consider the majority of democrats far left.

Of course not. It was a point of clarification is all. He said "correct," but qualified it. I was simply asking if that means he thinks it's incorrect sans the qualification.
