Democratic Closing Argument: Personal Attacks

Democrats Attack Over Personal Issues, Republicans Over Policy

It's not just the Aqua Buddha and David Vitter's prostitute, Democratic candidates across the country are closing out the campaign with personal attacks on Republican candidates, sometimes digging up decades-old legal problems.

In one typical example, Democratic ads have transformed Kentucky Republican House candidate Andy Barr into "a convicted criminal" -- complete with images yellow police tape and fuzzy video of crime scenes. Not mentioned is his crime: As a college student 19 years ago, he was caught using a fake ID during spring break.

As you watch this year's ads -- and I've been watching all too many lately -- you'll notice a striking difference between Democratic and Republican attack ads: Democrats are attacking over personal issues, Republicans are attacking over policy.

There are, of course, many exceptions, but the overall trend is clear. Democrats are hitting their Republican opponents over past legal transgressions, shady business deals and even speeding tickets. Republicans are hammering Democrats over "Obamacare," Nancy Pelosi and the economy.

Speeding tickets, a fake ID in college and colleges shenanigans from three decades ago? Does this shit work to convince people not to vote for someone?

That's all they ever had. They certainly don't have any successes to run on. The four years since they seized power have been a terrible calamity for this nation. Nothing has gone right in this country in the four years they've been in power. It's definitely time to show the Democrats the door and then lock it behind them. Personal smears and "BOOOOOOOOOSH!!" wont be enough for them this time around.

What do you expect them to run on, their stellar record since they took over Congress and the Presidency?

Like posting naked photos of Obamas dead mother?

Oh yes... posing for a commie... I remember that. The whole damn family is a pack of radicals and commies.

You want the son of commies running the nation? Well, he is, and the majority want to see his ass kicked to the curb, along with his Sal Alinsky hand book of radical, socialist tricks.

You did not understand the OP then?

You want to ignore the facts?

There's nothing "personal" about obama's family being radicals and commies. That's the sort of thing people SHOULD be aware of.

Gain and ounce of perspective son. It'll help you out.

Pathetic.
So limited of vision and thought.

Hmm, yea, lets compare those records:

One party:

two unpaid for wars

Moving 2.4 million jobs to China using subsidies and tax breaks

trillion dollar drugs for votes bill

ruined economy

thousands of Americans dead and tens of thousands maimed

replaced OSHA regulations with "voluntary compliance"

apoligized to BP

The other Party:

bringing the country back from depression

Health care bill the CBO says will save 150 billion over ten years, insures children and helps parents whose kids are in college

received promise from BP to pay at least 20 billion in clean up (unless first party stands in way)

put together a package to get America working again

wants tax breaks for the middle class

working on affordable education

regulated Wall Street, the cause of the economic depression

works to save jobs here and bring jobs back to this country

Seems pretty clear to me. We don't even need to say which party is which. Everyone on this board already knows. Too bad many of the American people don't.

When you have no successes to run on,you have to resort to vicious personal smears. That's where the Democrats are at this point. Their four years of rule have been a terrible tragedy for this Nation. For them this Election was all about "YOU A RACIST!!","DA BOOOOOOSH!!",And all sorts of vicious personal attacks. Hopefully that wont be enough for them. Get out and vote. Time for the Dems to go.

:bsflag: :lalala:

You are so gullible, it's incredible. Where I live, it has been NONSTOP personal attack ads by the "mystery" PACs who don't have to identify their doners. There was even one against some candidate in NH by one of those lovely groups that had a slomo shot of a person vomiting, complete with the sound. Nice.

Sorry, bub, but I have yet to see any TV ad put up in support of a Republican or Tea Party candidate that actually states his/her platform. None, nada, zero, zilch.

Calling candidates "Witches" and "Whores" really is as low as politics can go. How do Democrats look at themselves in the mirror? They should be ashamed of themselves but somehow i doubt they are. It's just win at all cost for them at this point. They've become evil & pathetic. So lets show em the door on Nov. 2nd and then lock it behind them. Make it happen America!
