Sarah Palin is a public figure. As such she does not have the same recourse in libel action as would a private individual unless she can prove that any defamatory statements against or about her were motivated by actual malice, which is almost impossible to establish.

The one that finally took with the left, however, was thus: sure, Jared Loughner was crazy, but people like Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin pushed him to the brink!

Did they have evidence? No. Did they have a motive to suggest their assumption? No. Was there evidence saying that they were wrong? Absolutely. Regardless, however, liberals pushed forward.

Enter Democratic Underground.

Known as a liberal bastion, "DU" is one of the biggest leftist sites on the internet. Literally minutes after news broke about the shootings in Arizona, DU members were some of the first to blindly blame Sarah Palin for the shooting. Even more stupid: members of Democratic Underground actually started a petition to "Indict Sarah Palin as an Accessory to Murder."

Here is the entire last paragraph from the written petition:

The problem with their mockery is that - absolutely astoundingly - Christians do in fact have some evidence on that matter in which to actually hang their hat: Obama's name - phonetically - really is the same as the words used to describe Satan in the book of Luke. So i started a thread showing how you could prove the fact with an online translator and the libs went ape-shit. Not that i blame the liberals: fearless leader Barry's polls are already so in the toilet that every time he campaigned for a lib for last November's elections, they lost.

Anyway, so now along comes some Goddamn troublemaker, yours truly - takes a bow, thank you - and shows manifestly that the worry the Christians have on the Obama Antichrist concept can be qualified with hard-core evidence you don't get on youtube, but can prove to yourself manifestly and objectively, and so they went crazy, naturally. You can see the extent to which it bothers that particular jerk in that he's following me around saying "I did it three times" - a reference to the fact that I cited that I checked the translation on three different online and downloadable translators before coming to the defense of those whose belief system demands that they take a "coincidence" of that magnitude at least somewhat seriously.
