On Wednesday morning, Rep. Katie Porter (D-Calif.) slammed Alabama's new abortion law, uttering a grotesque lie about the pro-life law:

The FACT is H.B. 314, the Human Life Protection Act, does NOT penalize the woman getting an abortion, but rather the abortionist who kills the life inside her.

Why would the law punish the one doing the killing and not the one paying for the killing to happen?

The fact is that the Alabama abortion law is extreme. Even Pat Robertson admits it is extreme and Republicans flee from it like a vampire flees a cross. Even Donald Trump disowns it.

I completely agree with you - it is an 'extremist' bill.... It is SO extreme that Democrats like Porter do not have to 'misrepresent' it in an attempt to try to make it sound worse than it is. All they have to do is tell the truth because in this case the truth is bad enough.

My guess is that the authors of the bill wanted to try to avoid the perception of the false narrative being pushed about there being a 'War on Women'. (Pro-life is arguably not an attack on women but instead an attempt to protect 'life'.)

This way they target the doctor, whom without the abortion can not be performed.
