the american representative democracy is bad false failed

a state with 500 000 people got the same power as a state of 50 million people, in the senate

fail, thats not representative democracy

the election of the american president is a joke, its from 1776 antique and does not represent the people in any democratic way

gerrymandering should be impossible its standard, fail in democracy

actually winner takes all is a fail in democracy

imagine, 1 candidate gets 12 % all other candidate gets less, so 12 % get to rule, thats not democracy.

your system off electing is not democratic

not near democracy

the USA is not a democracy

A major theme of the American Revolution was to avoid the pitfalls of Democracy such as where revealed by Ancient Greek HIstory.

Thus, you have many checks and balances to restrain the will of the majority.

ONE of those is the Senate, which is a check to prevent the larger more numerous states from using their power to oppress the smaller states.

Try North Korea.

They have everything a bed wetting liberal demands.

No rich people, no guns, no religion and everyone gets an easy government job with full bennies.

if you compare the USA to North Korea you don t care shit about democracy

Actually the thread premise has failed.

The United States is indeed not a democracy, and thankfully so.

The American Constitutional Republic is far superior to any democracy.

i don t think a oligarchy is superior to a true democracy

When the reporters asked Benjamin Franklin, what kind of country he and his fellow congressmen created for the people, he didn't say a democracy, he said "a republic if you can keep it".

This is very important, because only the American Electoral College alone stands in the way of the tyranny of the majority. Your OP would result quickly in the tyranny of the majority, very European style. That is a bad idea.

It is a representative government. The Senate was not created to represent people. It was created to represent the interests of the states, thus only two per state regardless of the population.

Democracy was abhorred.

The only branch responsible for making laws that affect the people of the states are the ones structured to be elected by the people directly. There is no provision in Article II or Article III that grants decision making power over the citizens of the states, this not being directly elected.

No one said it was.

Of course, the United States is not an ‘oligarchy.’

The genius of our Constitutional Republic is that the people are subject solely to the rule of law, not men – as men are incapable of ruling justly, safeguarding citizens from the tyranny of ‘majority rule.’

That’s not the case in a democracy
