The difference betweeen a democratic republic and a constitutional republic is that in a democratic one it all rests on how people vote, in the constitutional one there is a document called a constitution limiting what the federal govt can do regardless of how the majority may vote.

We dont live in a democratic republic, we live in a constitutional one.

Democracy.

We were primarily an agrarian society and founders were rebelling against the rule of a monarchy.

Which is why they forumed a constitutional republic instead of a democracy. They wanted the minority to be protected from the majority which is why we DO NOT have a democracy.
