The very defintions of the words show that a republiic is a type of democracy.

See them twist and turn to avoid answering the question?

They know they answer but cant go on record to the reality of what the founders left us.

Neither. They chose a Republic because it was the best form of government to ensure we had freedom in our life, including freedom in economics, aka Capitalism.

The real question is do you want freedom or do you want the government controlling everything?

You've clearly chosen the latter.

Oh, and btw TM. What you've present here is what we call a false dichotemy. That means you falsely present two choices as though they are the only choices and mutually exclusive. That's not the case here.

You do realize that present people with false choices is a lie dont you? You might want to rethink your thread's premise if you care at all about the truth. But considering that you havent demonstrated any evidence of ever caring about the truth, I hardly think you will listen to me. It's a shame though. I just want you to be honest.

Democracy has taken a number of forms, both in theory and practice. The following kinds are not exclusive of one another: many specify details of aspects that are independent of one another and can co-exist in a single system.

Representative democracy involves the selection of government officials by the people being represented. Democracy.

We were primarily an agrarian society and founders were rebelling against the rule of a monarchy.

Which is why they forumed a constitutional republic instead of a democracy. They wanted the minority to be protected from the majority which is why we DO NOT have a democracy.

Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on whats for dinner, liberty is a well armed lamb contesting that outcome -Benjamin Franklin.
