Dem Booed Over Birth Control at Town Hall

Isn't liberty and freedom job one for the conservative crowd. And yet, some are willing to follow a Pope or Bishop or priest without question. Why do conservatives believe in freedom and liberty for the individual and yet subject themselves to a collective, and an Authoritarian Church?

Oh, so now we can't choose which, if any, religion to follow?

Certainly you can. But your tendency to outsource your thinking, accept opinions telegraphed from the pulpit, and engage in groupthink and collectivism is certainly at odds with the impressive posting history you've racked up of snide remarks accusing others of exactly that.

The good news is, the Pope has said health care access is an inalienable right and that "Justice in health care should be a priority of governments and international institutions," so you still have plenty of opportunities to put party before your Church and demonstrate your, ah, "independence."

Good thing I am not Catholic, isn't it? That means you have no way to try and attack my beliefs based on what other people say.

By the way, Catholics do not outsource anything. There is not a single teaching of the modern church that tells people not to think for themselves. Unlike Islam, they actually caught up to the 21st century.

There is a funny thing about choice isn't there? When you are actually allowed to make a choice rather than have the government make it for you.

Too bad the only choice liberals want people to be able to make is the choice to have an abortion.

Immie

What are you even talking about?

Are you really trying to claim that Liberals are trying to force people to have abortions?

ROFL. That is clearly not the case. Nor has it EVER been the case.

On the other hand, conservatives are in fact, specifically, trying to force people not to use contraception.

But of course, in the minds of folks on the right, it's apparently liberals who are trying to take away people's "freedoms". What a joke.

Papa Obama helped unify Catholics — and not just Catholics, either — in opposition to his arrogance.

He gave the right even more good material to use against him
Not that they needed any help

Sometimes I believe that conservatives respond as they are taught. For example, use the word socialism they would respond the same way, while carrying a sign that says, "Don't let the socialists touch my Medicare."
Perhaps birth control, even abortion are in the same catagory, we are against those practices but we use them so they should not be touched?

Are you trying to argue that Medicare is socialism? If not, your post makes less sense than the signs I saw that said "Keep the government out of my Medicare."

Are you kidding me?

RICK SANTORUM is the top Republican candidate for POTUS at the moment, and he is specifically "complaining about contraception". And the Republican base is apparently in full support, judging by his numbers.

I didn't know Rick Santorum was part of this discussion.

WILL THE REAL RICK SANTORUM PLEASE IDENTIFY HIMSELF?

Immie

I didn't see in your statement where you said "No-one in this discussion".

I must have missed that part. Ahh, I see why...

Because that's not what you said. You said:

No one, I repeat, no one is complaining about contraception

As far as I know, we were discussing the people on the right in this discussion.

Maybe I am wrong on that and it was not what NYC was speaking about.

I suspect you may be right about Santorum. The guy has soured my opinion of him over the last few weeks. But then, I'm not voting Republican or Democrat and haven't been listening to any of them recently. They can all go to purgatory (I refuse to tell them to go to hell and even though I don't believe in purgatory, it gets the message across) for a very, very, very long time.

Coming from a man who worships at the obamessiah's alter, that mean nothing.

Watch out Liberals. November 2012 is coming and Obama has galvanized a lot of people against Democrats.

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Hilarious.

67% of their money comes from the government. Oops.

Where did it come from before the government started insisting on covering all the medical expenses of old people?

Nope, liberals are attempting to force businesses in this case to pay for products they don't want to pay for.

But, to liberals, people don't have the choice to decide what products they want to pay for. Liberals know what is best for everyone and insist that everyone do just as they are told.

Bold statement in a thread attacking the left for supporting greater access to contraception.

why not

Abortifacients were in his the HHS dictate

Access problems to birth control were that pressing of an issue out of all issues

The left is not being attacked for supporting greater access to contraception. That is extremely decietful on your part. The left is being attacked for attempting to force businesses, in this case religious businesses to purchase a product they don't want to purchase.

No one is saying that people can't have access to contraception. What you are saying is that a business that would otherwise not choose to pay for its employee's access to contraception must pay for it. The business have not stated that employees could not purchase their own contraceptives, just that the employer is not going to pay for it. Funny, thing, how your side as insinuated yourselfs into very personal business decisions.

When was that?

Pretty much until some assclown (with the initials LBJ) became POTUS.

Interesting

So you enjoyed the "freedom" before 1963

Where black children were not free to go to school with whites
Where women were restricted from holding "mens" jobs
Where gays could be beaten if their sexual orientation was found out

No....but you had to give up your freedom when the nasty Gubment started looking out for poor people

And, precisely, what did it do for the poor? Did it raise them out of poverty? No. It's not fucking working. Get over it.

Gonna ignore your ignorant remark about blacks.... and women.... no one seeks to turn back that clock... just recognize that we give up our freedom for your stupid 'war on poverty'.

I became a Catholic as I became a Jew as I became a Baptist, A Methodist, Episcopalian...ad infinitum regarding the O's circumventing the Constitution...:eusa_whistle:

Let me see if I can put this in a way you can understand. It's got jack shit to do with theology.

Of course. Accusing someone of being a false messiah is a very secular thing to do. Especially when it's done by fundies like you.

It does put into perspective a bit the depth of you folks' hatred for and fear of the man, though. But frankly I don't think projecting your bizarre eschatological views onto your political adversaries is a particularly healthy thing to do.

Comparing Obama to Jesus is not a very secular thing to do. Saying he is like god is not a very secular thing to do. Standing up and claiming you are going to heal the world is not e very secular thing to do. Mocking people that say things like that is a secular thing to do. Unless, that is, you think that Richard Dawkins habit of mocking people who believe things like that about Jesus proves he is actually religious.

Well said

Coming from the same group that supports Papa Obama
denying school vouchers for poor black kids to go to the same
private school as his kids

I guess that kind of discrimination is ok
:eusa_whistle:

I hear that the messiah also had a tough time in CA last week.... apparently, people are a tad pissed at him lying to the Catholic Church... and it's not just Catholics.... "We're All Catholics Now". LOL

'messiah'? Who's that?

Eh... It's something rightwingnut loons like to call the president because they're Obama-deranged and drooling at the mouth.

When are we ever going to admit 'The Great Society' we already had prior to LBJ?

The GOP didn't make birth control an issue, that was democrats. They made the whole controversey up out of whole cloth.

Which of us have demanded that the government or our employers pay for it?

Using it is one thing. Demanding it be given to you because you DESERVE it is something completely different.

Immie

No-one is "Demanding" that anyone pay for it.

Insurers are happy to pay for it themselves, BECAUSE IT'S LESS COSTLY THAN THE ALTERNATIVES.

Insurers make more profit, if they provide birth control. Duh.

They are happy to pay for it? Want to bet?
