Define 'democracy'.....

There's this thing I like to use called a dictionary. You should try it.

I believe Thomas Jefferson defined it best:

“A democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where fifty-one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty-nine.”

well how would you define 'democracy'?:eusa_whistle:

democracy is a form of government where-by unethical people, using lies, misinformation and fear tactics, can scare millions of voters into voting for bad people and bad laws

We are a Republic, not a Democracy. Define the difference, its important.

Are there any non representative democracy's? aka republic or parlimintarian types of democracy's?

I do not think there is any true democratic government on earth.
Of course democratic government is an oxymoron if you think about it.

In Our Republic, at least in Theory, and once upon a time in reality, New Powers could not be imposed on the Public without Constitutional Amendment which required 2/3 of Congress to bring to the Floor, and 3/4 to pass. that was one route any way. That high bar gave the opportunity for people to calm down and consider, for reason to prevail, rather than Impulse or manipulation. That is one thing we should look back on.

Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on whats for supper

That wrongly assumes you can't be both. We are a democratically conceived Republic. We can be democratically altered. The Republic can be democratically dissolved.

Therefore we are a democracy in the generally accepted definition of the term.

Your opinion does not change the fact that we are a Republic.

Our founders conceived the Republic of the United States of America.

There probably are small democratic organizations on earth.

If history is any guide, then the Somali pirates are likely operating with some kind of very primative democratic process.

The problem is that you cant get elected if you dont have corporate backing and there is no such thing as a democratic corporation.

But is it democratic?

One must be specific when they ask such questions and the one in opening post.

The United States is a Democratic Republic. All citizens of the age of 18 or older may vote for Representatives to Represent the people in Congress and the Presidency. Such Representatives serve at the peoples pleasure for 2, 4 or 6 years depending on branch and section of Government. There is a process where by the Elected Representatives can remove elected members for cause if enough agree.

A pure democracy would be one person one vote on ALL matters. It simply would not work on a large scale. That is why No actual Government anywhere is a pure Democracy.

There are other types of Republics and there are other types of Democracy.
