Deficits: Then And Now

The author of this thread attacks a state with a surplus, thinking she is making some sort of a point about deficits and Democrats.

the simple point is that Democrats favor deficits to keep the welfare flowing to their ever growing dependent voting constituency and so killed every Republican effort to make deficits illegal.

That is simply false.
dear, you have to say why it is false! Notice a liberal is too stupid to know that a reason is necessary. What he really said was: "As a liberal I have feeling it is false but being stupid I have no reason to think its false so, being stupid, I'll believe in my feelings much like those who followed Hitler Stalin and Mao did.

You didn't back up your claim with anything, why should I back up mine.

I vote for whoever has the best policies at the time....I don't care what party that is.

that means you are being stupid. You should vote for a philosophy not a policy, but that means you have to have intelligence to know what policy goes with what philosophy..

Then there's this:
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President Barack Obama pledged Monday to cut the nation's $1.3 trillion deficit in half by the end of his first term
Obama pledges to cut nation s deficit in half - Feb. 23 2009

The deficit is now less than half of that.

if Democrats really cared about deficits rather than ever growing welfare
they would simply join with Republicans and make them illegal.

There is, of course, the question as to whether the Democrats don't care about the costs...or they are oblivious.

1. The Social Security plan was that workers would pay for retirees, and, based on actuarial tables, those who died earlier than expected would add to the fund.

a. No one considered that life expectancy would increase?

b. No one considered that the balance of workers and retirees might change?

c. No one calculated the long-term costs?

d. Ida May Fuller, the first person to begin receiving benefits, in January, 1940, when she was 65- she lived to be 100. “…worked for three years under the Social Security program. The accumulated taxes on her salary during those three years was a total of $24.75. Her initial monthly check was $22.54. During her lifetime she collected a total of $22,888.92 in Social Security benefits.”

why worry and go through hell for all of history when you could simple make deficits illegal and be done with this constant cancer on our economy. Simple, Democrats want to be sure the wlefare will keep flowing to their ever growing voting constituency. The only problem with the treasonous Democratic strategy is that the more it succeeds the more the country declines.

Republicans busted the 2000 balanced budget, not Democrats.

The Republican counter to the so-called tax and spend liberal was to stop taxing and keep spending.

dear, the Republican counter was 30 Balanced Budget Amendments to make deficits illegal. Democrats killed everyone of them because passing one would in effect make Democrats illegal.

Ed man, come up with something new. Even PC is bragging on the Reagan return on inventment of his deficit spending.

I share your concerns buddy but at some time or other you just need to be able to credit card spend.

you just need to be able to credit card spend.

dear, can you say why?

Ed, you kind of come off like you are trying to be mean sometime. Is that intentional? Then you ask a question with an obvious answer...

You can't imagine being broke but having a credit card which would allow you to spend $ on a new pair of tires so you can get to work the next day?

Or as a nation suddenly thinking you need a 500 ship navy program to drive the commies bankrupt? Or needing to fund WWII?

dear, you are too slow to be here and have to learn things over and over and over. This is typical of a liberal. All agree that there are emergency exceptions to a balanced budget amendment and also strict rules about paying the deficit down after the emergency.

Liberals oppose because they don't want anything to interfere with their ever increasing welfare programs that are used to subvert America and buy votes.
