Agent Orange was used to defoliate the tropical forests so that the enemy could be more easily seen. They also poured it onto the US troops. They thought that it was largely harmless to people, but didn't foresee its cancerous properties.
The war was a mistake to begin with, as the US wanted to stop the Communist push south and thus lied to get us involved in it. That said, the South Vietnamese people didn't want to be under Communist rule. What the west is faced with at this time is a radical religious following that enslaves women, kills those who leave it, kills gays, demands Jizya tax from non-believers and kills those who don't follow its religious tenets. It...IS...the pinnacle of evil.

What the West is faced now is a result of its own misconception and wrong foreign and domestic policies for decades. Supporting of mujahedins in Afghanistan against the Soviet troops, so called war on terror after 9/11which didnt defeat Taliban and reesteblished Afghanistan as the main producer of opiats, military adventure in Iraq for big corporation's sake which led to vacuum of power resulting in the rise of radical Muslim groups there, pointless adventure in Libya which resulted in chaos there and Libya becoming one of the main routes for illegal migrants to Europe, engaging in Syrian civil war which gave an impulse to mass illegal migration to Europe in 2015.
If we are talking about wrong internal policies, then it will be consent made by Western European governments decades ago for Muslims from former colonies to work and live there.
It is you who have made Muslim fundamentalism the internal issue of your countries. It is you who have let radical islamizm loose and spread throughout the Middle East and Europe. Maybe it is the pinnacle of evil, but you by your deeds are on its side.
