Decommissioning the Enterprise

HMS Ark Royal and HMS Invincible were both sold for scrap, which is painfully ironic, seeing as they both steamed south in '82 to recapture one of the last scraps of the Empire. That was the last carrier war.

Invincible was broken down to make razor blades, which is some small consolation because it means that she's still shedding blood.

There are a million technical reasons for taking an obsolete Aircraft Carrier out of commission. Funny how people become sentimental about a hunk of steel they never even saw.

This is true. But there should be a sentimental attchment to these mighty warships. They're a symbol of your status as world's #1 superpower, and should be remembered and commemorated as such. Not forgeting that she's the first nuclear-powered ship to grace the high seas. I'm sure that Nelson would look down fondly upon her.
