Of course he'll ignore Congress. The problem is, if he takes it to court they say it can take years to decide! But the way he does things, he'll go through with it just because he always does what he wants anyway. He did it with Libya, he shoved obamacare down our throats when the majority of people were telling him NO, pushed the stimulus through when people were telling him NO, pushed "cash for clunkers" which was a huge farse, bailed out all his rich friends (with OUR money)...Can't wait until he's gone!

There is something to be said for forcing the issue when the politicians are all so selfish and childish.

RNC doesn't even control both legislative chambers. The minority have rights, but the Constitution is about Separation of Powers, and majority rule as well.

The Republicans would have to come up with some way to sue. In the link, the best they can come up with is that Congress originated the spending now being questioned in the first place. The Republicans, even, will easily point out that it happened, again--and again--and again--and again--and again. In fact, it has even happened, many times before(?)! Most courts would find that to be a basis for a ruling the legislature has to own up. Barring that, then the Executive has to own up.

The Congress only recently passed a Budget, only a few weeks. ago. Now they have to own up.

The debt ceiling is more of a political cover. The Republicans now are chaffing that Obama even voted against it, when he may have showed up for work, even in the Senate.

Now Obama has Tim. Secretary Tim seems to know what his job is all about. The Republicans created unfunded wars and unfunded Homeless Security(?)! The checks now get put into the mail.

The Republicans likely went--many of them--to the same Ivy League where Obama and Michele went--and even where Bush was sure to go(?)! The other part remains unclear to this date, even now.

The money part is different. People know a great deal about it(?)! It is Socialist. It originates of the Socialist Credit Market. People who use it are Socialists. The Republicans don't think they should be--and so want to take all the spending away.

The Republicans took Schedule M away. Next will be paying customers in the stores: Which the Republicans intend to take away--Rapture or none! It's an "Intelligent Design" thing, with them--If maybe not at the Ivy League--which millions might say(?), if they could(?)!

The official wording of the 14th Amendment: "The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law, including debts incurred for payment of pensions and bounties for services in suppressing insurrection or rebellion, shall not be questioned." Obama should just go ahead and pay off the debts. If GOP Congressmen try to sue, they'll run into standing problems. If someone does find palpable standing somehow (stemming from a cognizable or imminent injury), the Supreme Court is VERY unlikely to contradict the explicit wording of the 14th Amendment in order to prevent a sitting Executive from paying the nation's debts.

The GOP premise is ridiculous. This isn't about deficits. This is about whether there should be a separate vote for raising the debt limit after the budget (passed by a GOP majority in the House!!!) agreed to spend to a degree that necessities borrowing beyond the debt limit. Only in the US system is there such a vote. And the 14th Amendment shows that the vote is almost definitely Constitutionally superfluous.

Kuros pointed out that it may say that in the 14th. I would point to the fact that your question is invalid though. It is not a matter of where it says that it does not say, it is a matter of where it says. There are many things that are not explicitly denied to the federal government but that does not give them the right to do those things. The powers that are given the federal government are spelled out and specific, it's not a matter of looking for things that are explicitly denied.

What???? Do you always sign to pay for something that you don't understand and haven't read? Especially with something as HUGE as healthcare reform....Obama and Pelosi pushed to get this passed without everyone reading it and understanding it. The only way he got it passed was by lying to congressman Stupak, (he was the only one holding up getting it passed), and said that he would remove parts that would cost taxpayers for abortions...Stupak believed him like a fool and Obama has NEVER removed it! He never planned on removing it...he's a LIAR!

Pelosi said it had to be passed so we would "know what's in it". How stupid is THAT??? Do you buy things and know even know what it is??
