The "Debt Ceiling" was a ridiculous measure to "reign in spending" and it's never done that. Prior to President Obama, it was mainly a strawman to shake a fist at..

After Obama's election, it's been used as leverage with disastrous results.

Which is funny..because the conservative gold standard of conservativism, Ronald Reagan, raised the debt ceiling 18 freakin times.
