Debate thoughts...

Beyond that, and most importantly, to believe what is going on today around the world is the work of one man and not a global sociological/historical movement is to fundamentally misunderstand reality. And today to fundamentally misunderstand reality is as good as tying the noose yourself.

I agree that this is a sociological/historical movement. So what are we to do about it?

Combat the sociological trends that breed the resentment. Dictators in the middle east abuse and rob their own citizens, and then focus the resulting anger by blaming their people's suffering on the 'the Jews' or 'the American imperialists', or little and big Satan respectively. Certain regimes can be perhaps rehabilitated over time, like Saudi Arabia, but some regimes, such as the Iranian mullahs, must be removed, and their failed states begun anew. Once the impediments to knowledge and progress are removed, most middle easterners will see for themselves what their own leaders have done to them, and what they need to do to repair their societies. This is a long-term plan that may or may not succeed, but is the only 'acceptable' plan that could also lead to success.

My preferred plan (probably viewed as 'unacceptable' by many people) would be a considerable amount more severe.
