Debate over possible domestic oil production, again

nothing is perfectly safe when fallible humans are involved... but that does not mean that every effort is not taken to have the most safety possible... nor does it mean we wait for 'perfectly safe' before we do anything

These failures occured because every effort was not taken. And, in fact, anyone that stated that they should be taken was called a liberal nutcase that was trying to regulate businesses out of business. The environmental mess that the Canadian oil sands are creating downstream are just as routinely downplayed by all as the dangers of the present nuclear plants. Plants that in the US now have four times as many spent fuel rods in the rod ponds as the ponds were designed for. Is that taking every effort?

Did they take every effort to prevent the blowout in the Gulf? Did they take every effort to prevent what we see in Japan? Have they taken every effort here in the US when many of the spent rod ponds have four times as many fuel rods in them as they were designed for?

And every time we speak of very strigent regulations for dangerous and very profitable technologies, the lobbyests for the businesses start talking about liberal and environmental fruitcakes trying to regulate their businesses out of business. And when a Three Mile Island occurs, they downplay the severity and the possible consequences.

Every time you and your environazi ilk speak of 'stringent' regulations, it is to the extreme where it is not viable.... might as well go back to the freaking stone age... but that may be too far, as we'll pollute the environment with the dreaded smoke from building fires with friction

Accidents and mistakes will happen.... some that could have been prevented more, and entities/persons are held responsible... and some that could really not have been prevented... you can't live your life in a little eco bubble as a society....
