Deal or no deal?

Republicans ran it up

Senseless tax cuts, wars, unfunded mandates

Thanks for asking

All on oBUMa's watch. He's president...he owns it. Isn't that the left's mantra for Bush?

And it was hardly all from Bush. What cuts has oBUMa made to reduce it?

Obama had to pay for Bush's wars, Bush's tax cuts, Bush's unfunded Medicare Part D all with what was left from Bush's economy

Tell me about all the Obama programs that added to the debt?

And rehash the last 4 years again. I don't think you need me to point out what's been discussed here endlessly. It won't change your mind and you will never change mine. No need to put the whole board through that misery again.

Solyndra..and buying UAW votes is a start. But again save your breath, I'm not interested at least right now of reliving it again. No time. Game is on..

He's also having to pay for FDR's Socialist Insecurity Ponzi scheme, LBJ's idiotic unfunded Great Society programs and Medicare scam.

Guess what, hacaksaurus rex, stupid unfunded programs coming out of the District of Criminals that are bankrupting the nation didn't start with GEORGE BOOOOOOOOOSH!

Increased Entitlement spending? Expanding Bush-era Big-Brother style spying programs on our populace? Not stopping corporate tax cuts for outsourcing?

Anyway, that aside, I'm actually looking forward to the cliff. Then in 2014 maybe the American people will realize that Congress is full of hacks and vote them all out.

Going over the cliff is scary, it will hurt when we hit bottom, but in the long run it will be better than the pocket pool the govt. is playing now.
It's not how far we fall, but a measure in how fast we pick ourselves up that shows the character as a nation.

It's not really a 'cliff'. It's more of a curb with a slope. Granted, the tax rate change is overnight... but the sequestration spending cuts happen over 9 years.

Does anyone really care anymore if we go over the fiscal cliff? After listening to the D.C. nuts for the past several day's and again on the Sunday talk shows I"m so pissed off and disgusted with both parties I really hope we do go over the cliff I would rather see that than some half ass deal that does nothing other than give false appearance that the politicians actually did something.

I do so hope we go over the cliff big time....
That way we at least get some spending cuts...

Otherwise I'm sure we are gonna raise taxes on those making $250K.
And no spending cuts.

All he had to do was build a bill that could have passed with a bi partisan vote.

he wanted only one the Rs would pass.

Hes the worst speaker of the house in my lifetime

The potters have just derailed it again.

If they refused to agree with Boehner's "plan b", they sure as hell won't go along with any plan that costs more and that's where they are right now.

I'm sick of it. These people work three days a week and enjoy junkets and perks and benefits that none of us will never see. Some of them want us to go right on paying for their health insurance but want to keep us from having the very same opportunity.

The very idea that entitlements should be cut is ASSSinine. If you want to see a list of what should be cut, look at the slideshow at this site -
Lindsey Graham On Fiscal Cliff: 'Hats Off To The President. He Won.'

I don't want to see cuts to the military, but I do want your average liberal to feel some pain. They think the debt is some extraneous number. Only when they are negatively impacted will they ever begin to connect the dots from progressivism to the big pile of shit we are headed for ( wishful thinking ).
I think liberals are guided by their ideals / hearts - not cognition. They think it's all monopoly money until it comes out of their pockets!

Both parties drove us to the edge, try to understand the govt. is run by both parties and has been for a long time.

Dude the republican party has been screwing with the rules of the game in the congress for years now.

they are the problem

Why can't you ever admit that "your side" helped make this problem?? You don't think your democrats do anything wrong....it's BOTH SIDES you idiot! With you though, it's party over people.....you need to grow up!

Howard Dean on This Week said something I strongly agree with.

That in the long term, America will be strengthened by going over the cliff and that we should be more focused on that (what's best for America) than who receives the blame and who receives political capitol and leverage.

As an aside, I can't believe how liberally biased This Week was today.

They looked like they were ready to throttle Howard Dean...he was screwing up their message that if we go off the cliff, it was absolutely terrible and that the Republicans were to blame.

Here's Gov. Dean's quote from This Week...the video isn't out yet:

DEAN: I mean, the frustrating thing for me is, isn't this what we really need to do?

I think Washington is actually incapable of making a deal that's going to help the country. What we're talking about here [referring to the discussion of other members of the roundtable] is a deal that's going to help the politicians. "It'll help the president". We're arguing "it's going to help Boehner". It's going -- that is not the problem.

The problem is, we have a really big deficit, that the economy is much stronger three years on down the line than it was, if we can stand this [referencing the Fiscal Cliff].

Hard to argue against that.

Consequences of going over the "Fiscal Cliff"?
Think of it as "outsourcing" our Government to China

One does get the impression that wealthy investors and corporate executives are more comfortable negotiating with the Communist Chinese than they are with the duly elected representatives of the American worker, be they the labor unions or the Democrats. Instead of calling in Joe Biden at the last moment to try to negotiate a deal with the Republicans, perhaps they should have called in Hu Jintao, the President of the People's Republic of China, whose portrait I incorporated into this political image.

Washington has never done anything with my money except make sure I have less of it. I would actually like to see who will go 'splat' if we do go over the cliff.

I say lets go over...

I want every one of the know nothing idiots that voted for this autrosity to feel it.

Will they?

they fought the 1993 budget law that gave us a surplus under Clinton and then took the credit for it and then got Bush elected and they immediately spoent the fuck out of it.

they they crashed the world economy AGAIN and fought ANYTHING that was done to fix it.

They lied us into expensive war and cut taxes at the same time.

This is the result of the republican party being insane

And you are on here 24/7 trying to masquerade as a smart person.

Let's be honest with ourselves

Our current government is incapable of reaching agreement on anything. They can't pass simple bills, how can they pass this?

The fiscal cliff will automatically do it for them. We will panic initially and then adjust to live with it. In the long run, it will reduce the deficit

As was pointed out, the same clowns that got us here are suddenly concerned with the debt...oh the irony...

Who declared two wars and cut taxes to pay for it?
Couldn't be the party of fiscal responsibility

Who declared....Deficits don't matter?
couldn't be the party of fiscal responsibility

Please. Our deficits have nothing to do with defense spending.

Foolishness or Political Courage?
Majority Leader Eric Cantor, the No. 2 Republican in the House, told reporters after huddling with other Republicans that he does not support the Senate's bill.
Republicans could face a backlash if they scuttle the deal. Income tax rates rose back to 1990s levels for all Americans at midnight, and across-the-board spending cuts on defense and domestic programs would begin to kick in on Wednesday. Economists say the combination of tax cuts and spending cuts could cause the economy to shrink, and public opinion polls show Republicans would shoulder the blame. Financial markets have staved off a steep plunge on the assumption that Washington would ultimately avoid pushing the country off the fiscal cliff into a recession. Several Republicans said the fight could spill over until Wednesday, at which point they could be pressured by financial markets to accept the Senate bill. "Everyone knows once the markets open tomorrow our courage drops in direct proportion to the market fall," said one Republican lawmaker who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Eric Cantor did vote no in the final House vote.
Should a no vote be interpreted as a vote of "political courage" to have let the US Government go over the "fiscal cliff?"

The bill easily passed 257-167, with 217 votes needed for passage. Democrats voted 172-16 in favor while Republicans votes 151-85 against. * GOP leadership was split. While House Speaker John Boehner (Ohio) and 2012 vice presidential nominee and Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (Wis.) voted yes, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (Va.) and Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (Calif.) voted no
.

All Democrats voted against Obama's budget request for '13.

Shall we interpret as them believing Obama is a fucking idiot?
