Day 42: What has he done?

RE: The highlighted part, yes it is ludicrous, so why did the Federal Regulators Obama had on watch make sure this was done?

Why did The Obama Appointed Regulators give the Drilling Rig a Passing Safety Grade a few weeks before this happened?

Because those "Obama Appointed Regulators" were, in reality, appointed by bush

What a shame that the facts have a liberal bias:lol:

It's so laughable that you push the blame off on Bush...especially after that stupid ass rant of yours at the beginning of this thread about the right not being able to accept blame.

So, which are you? The pot or the kettle?

•By the Numbers to Date:

•The administration has authorized 17,500 National Guard troops from Gulf Coast states to participate in the response to the BP oil spill.
•More than 20,000 personnel are currently responding to protect the shoreline and wildlife and cleanup vital coastlines.
•More than 1,700 vessels are responding on site, including skimmers, tugs, barges, and recovery vessels to assist in containment and cleanup efforts—in addition to dozens of aircraft, remotely operated vehicles, and multiple mobile offshore drilling units.
•Approximately 1.96 million feet of containment boom and 2 million feet of sorbent boom have been deployed to contain the spill—and approximately 620,000 feet of containment boom and 1.8 million feet of sorbent boom are available.
•Approximately 13.8 million gallons of an oil-water mix have been recovered.
•Approximately 980,000 gallons of total dispersant have been deployed—755,000 on the surface and 225,000 subsea. More than 420,000 gallons are available.
•More than 120 controlled burns have been conducted, efficiently removing a total of more than 2.8 gallons of oil from the open water in an effort to protect shoreline and wildlife.
•17 staging areas are in place and ready to protect sensitive shorelines, including: Dauphin Island, Ala., Orange Beach, Ala., Theodore, Ala., Panama City, Fla., Pensacola, Fla., Port St. Joe, Fla., St. Marks, Fla., Amelia, La., Cocodrie, La., Grand Isle, La., Shell Beach, La., Slidell, La., St. Mary, La.; Venice, La., Biloxi, Miss., Pascagoula, Miss., and Pass Christian, Miss.

President Obama has had a few little things on his mind. Like preventing a repeat of the First Great Republican Depression. Like getting his Health Care Bill passed.

Yes, he should have had the MMS people standing before a grand jury a month after he was in office. And if he had, the whole of the Republican Party would have been screaming about his persecution of the wonderful people there. Well, now that may happen, and we shall see what the Repubs have to say now.

he got his ass kicked how? LOL...

I'm surprised that a very important fact got left out...that would be BO's personal claim that the fed gov has been directing every move of BP from day one of the spill...and every move they have directed to BP to stop this travesty has been an absolute failure!!! So if you still want to point fingers, then let's point them where they belong.

I'd also like to know how many of those "staging areas" are actually being protected? LA shores are covered in oil, MS shores...same deal, AL getting the early signs...not much success there is it?

Booms? Seriously? Those are doing a BANG UP job huh?

Why did it take James effing Carville getting on TV and calling out BO before we saw him standing on the shores of LA????

It's ridiculous! And still you defend him with bullshit stats that haven't even put a dent in this mess!!!

Since Obama is so Great, I will conclude he managed to do one of those things per day (but the anointed one should have done at least two things per day), so let's see 8 Items,

In that case, I conclude you're a moron. How else could you believe that it only took one day to muster 1700 ships, or 20,000 workers or to deploy 1.96 million feet of containment boom and 2 million feet of sorbent boom?

Well, if that is what you think, but you do not need to be a rocket scientist to know that it only takes a few minutes for BO to tell a General or a Admiral or any one Else to "Do this TAsk" and it gets done, so I was actually giving BO more Credit by saying one day to bark an order than the 10 minutes out of his worthless day to make one item on the list happen, so what school did you graduate from "Rocket Scientist":razz:

Umm, contrary to what you learned in rocket science school, the president has no magic wand he can wave and make ships instantanously available. It takes time to figure out which ships are not on a mission, and which of those ships are ready to move out. Then it takes time to get the needed supplies on board. Sending destroyers without putting any of the needed equipment and supplies on board doesnt take much time, but it's also a pretty useless response. You don't need a degree in rocket science to figure that one out.

Not all were, besides they now work for BO, so if they were incompetent BO should have fired them, oops, I did say incompetent, was I talking about BO or the Regulators? :eusa_whistle:

ummm, the President doesn't have a magic wand he can wave to make civil service workers disappear.

Once again, you prove you've got nothing but mindless quips that have no relation to reality.

Several MMS employees were dismissed for accepting gifts from the oil and mining industry like tickets to concerts and shows, meals at expensive restaurants, porn, cocaine and hookers.

Thanks. Found this Business Week piece, too.

Interior Secretary Ken Salazar ordered a broader investigation today into ethics violations at the agency that oversees offshore oil drilling after a report found lapses by staff in the Lake Charles, Louisiana, office between 2000 and 2008.

Falling prey to Southern LA business schmoozers is a very easy thing to do, I'm guessing. Not that that's an excuse.

Then:

The investigation by the department’s inspector general followed a 2008 probe of the agency that found illegal drug use and inappropriate sexual relationships between staff and industry contacts in an MMS office in Lakewood, Colorado.

And this I wouldn't have guessed:

The MMS generated more than $13 billion on average each year for the past five years by leasing rights to drill and collecting royalties from oil and natural gas companies such as BP and Exxon Mobil Corp. The agency is second only to the Internal Revenue Service in the amount of money it contributes to the federal government.

I swear, if conservatives didn't make stuff up, they would have nothing to say

Obama didn't say he is directing every move BP has made. He has said that feds have been "in control" of the efforts and have been monitoring the situation since it first occurred.

I'd also like to know how many of those "staging areas" are actually being protected? LA shores are covered in oil, MS shores...same deal, AL getting the early signs...not much success there is it?

Now you have to pretend that the workers are sitting around doing nothing, despite the complete absence of evidence.

Booms? Seriously? Those are doing a BANG UP job huh?

What are you sending down? Seriously. So far, all you do is claim that nothing was being done. But you are unable to state what Obama didn't do that he should have.

Why did it take James effing Carville getting on TV and calling out BO before we saw him standing on the shores of LA????

Is that really what you're whining about? All these lies about cleaning up the mess, and what you're really concerned about is a press conference that doesn't clean up any of the mess?

You really are a prissy pants wuss.

It's ridiculous! And still you defend him with bullshit stats that haven't even put a dent in this mess!!!

Since you seem to have a problem understanding simple english - The OP asked about what Obama had done in response to the leak. My response was nothing more than the only accurate and factual answer to that question in this entire thread.

That's why you're getting so emotional about it; wingnuts *hate* accuracy and facts.

You can proclaim the facts to be inadequate or prescient, but that won't change the reality (reality - another thing that confuses conservatives) that you are posting nothing more than an opinion, and not facts, as I have done.

Furthermore, your opinion is without any basis in reality as proven by your inability to name one thing Obama should have done that he did not. Your post is motivated, not by facts and reason, but by your need to blame your problems on your hated enemy, Barack Obama.

So all you can do is repeat your mindless slogans, devoid of facts, and launch personal attacks to hide your inability to defend your own ideas.

twice now you've used this "magic wand" thing. the sad reality is that BO actually believes he DOES have a magic wand. He's like a wizard who's got no mojo.

I was very entertained by your quip about how long it takes to locate and organize his fleet. Do you honestly think that the US Navy doesn't know which ships are "on missions"? All active vessels remain stocked and anything they need can be onboard quickly, even oil spill equipment, and if it can't they have access to any number of ways to get it. Can you imagine if war broke out and we had to say..."ummmm...ok wait, we're not ready...can you give us a couple of weeks to stock our ships? Pssssst, Larry, find the USS Eisenhower and the Nimitz and see if they are busy! Make sure to ask them if they have enough stuff on board to be gone for a while...we're going to war."

Funny. Does kinda make you wonder what the administration's contingency plans were. Maybe they'll publish them.

And don't get me wrong, I hate Obama as much as the next guy - more even, I'll bet - but this whole mess is like a cosmic wedgie. I mean who saw it coming?

I don't lay it at his feet, but it's hard to remember Katrina and all the bile that poured from the left , and not want to give BO a few noogies here.

Hmmm...you should pay more attention to the press conferences BO calls... here's the part you say didn't exist

We will demand that they pay every dime they owe for the damage they've done and the painful losses that they've caused. And we will continue to take full advantage of the unique technology and expertise they have to help stop this leak.

But make no mistake: BP is operating at our direction. Every key decision and action they take must be approved by us in advance. I've designated Admiral Thad Allen, who has nearly four decades of experience responding to such disasters, as the national incident commander. And if he orders BP to do something to respond to this disaster, they are legally bound to do it.

Now you have to pretend that the workers are sitting around doing nothing, despite the complete absence of evidence.

What are you sending down? Seriously. So far, all you do is claim that nothing was being done. But you are unable to state what Obama didn't do that he should have.

Are you kidding me? I'm the smallest fish in the pond making that claim...

Why did it take James effing Carville getting on TV and calling out BO before we saw him standing on the shores of LA????

Is that really what you're whining about? All these lies about cleaning up the mess, and what you're really concerned about is a press conference that doesn't clean up any of the mess?

It's ridiculous! And still you defend him with bullshit stats that haven't even put a dent in this mess!!!

Since you have a hard time understanding common sense, I will gladly name one thing that BO should have done...

and it's VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY simple...he should have put his boots on the ground first instead of talking that bullshit about boots on the throat of BP before he fully understood the scope of what we were and STILL ARE dealing with.

But you go right ahead and keep licking the inner cavity of his anus....you apparently enjoy it.

Not all were, besides they now work for BO, so if they were incompetent BO should have fired them, oops, I did say incompetent, was I talking about BO or the Regulators? :eusa_whistle:

If conservatives didn't make stuff up, they'd have nothing to say.

You obviously can't refute what I said about firing CS workers (because what I said is true) so you've stayed true to wingnut form, and made something up

I was very entertained by your quip about how long it takes to locate and organize his fleet. Do you honestly think that the US Navy doesn't know which ships are "on missions"?

Do you honestly think the President is "the US Navy" ?

Once again, you've engaged the magical thinking that Obama can magically make information "the Navy" knows into his own head.

Oh, I know what you're going to say, and it's going to be stupid -- "How long does it take for him to ask a question?"

The answer is "If 'the US Navy' is standing right next to him, it takes a few seconds. Since "the Navy" is not standing by his side, he has to ask someone to find out, who has to contact someone in authority at "the Navy"

And if you think that this naval authority will know where every available ship is, you're just using more of that magical thinking again. No one person knows where all the navys' ships are, never mind what their status (ex being repaired, maintenance, on mission, etc) is.

So it can take some time. It's the military.

All active vessels remain stocked and anything they need can be onboard quickly, even oil spill equipment, and if it can't they have access to any number of ways to get it.

So now all those ships are alreadystocked with oil spill equipment and ready to go? If you didnt lie, you'd have nothing to say

You think the Navy can make enough equipment available immediately? How do they do that when they don't have enough equipment to begin with? Are you saying that Obama should have let the Navy use his magic wand?

And how long does it take if the Navy has to use one of those "number of ways to get it"? I guess in wingnut world, that takes just a few minutes longer right?

Can you imagine if war broke out and we had to say..."ummmm...ok wait, we're not ready...can you give us a couple of weeks to stock our ships? Pssssst, Larry, find the USS Eisenhower and the Nimitz and see if they are busy! Make sure to ask them if they have enough stuff on board to be gone for a while...we're going to war."

Ummm, we have been attacked when we weren't ready. How long after 9/11 did it take bush to invade Afghanistan?

Hmmm...you should pay more attention to the press conferences BO calls... here's the part you say didn't exist

We will demand that they pay every dime they owe for the damage they've done and the painful losses that they've caused. And we will continue to take full advantage of the unique technology and expertise they have to help stop this leak.

Boy, even I didn't think you were stupid enough to make your lie so obvious. Your quote doesn't have Obama claiming to "direct every action". It says "every key decision", not "every decision".

Learn to read, moron

Now you have to pretend that the workers are sitting around doing nothing, despite the complete absence of evidence.

What are you sending down? Seriously. So far, all you do is claim that nothing was being done. But you are unable to state what Obama didn't do that he should have.

Are you kidding me? I'm the smallest fish in the pond making that claim...

IOW, you've done nothing but whine, and you have no idea of anything Obama could have done that he didn't.

I'm not whining about anything...I'm stating facts JUST as you have. I'll keep the name calling out of it here....

No, saying Obama has done nothing is a lie. Saying that Obama said he was directing every action BP made is a lie.

So all you can do is repeat your mindless slogans, devoid of facts, and launch personal attacks to hide your inability to defend your own ideas.

Like I said earlier, your cries about cleaning up the oil have been a lie. You didn't want a cleanup; You wanted a photo op which does nothing to clean up the oil.

But you go right ahead and keep licking the inner cavity of his anus....you apparently enjoy it.

And you keep pretending that not having a photo op on an oily beach is a problem. I guess that's what happens to wingnuts when they worship a pretzeldent whose only skill is posing for pictures while wearing a costume (air force, cowboy, etc)

"Now watch this swing!"

So I ask again - 42 days into this crisis, and what has Obama done to protect the shores of America?

Even such liberal talking heads such as Chris Mathews have blasted Obama for his near-indifference on this continueing disaster...

Since you must have missed this post, because you are asking the same question again (now how many times is that in this thread?) I'll repost what our friend put out there for you:

He will go down with Wilson, Johnson & Carter as failures....

It is Obama's responsibility to try as hard as he can to fix the problem.

He's not Aquaman, he can't summon whales to swim up the pipe to block it.

He's not a magician who can summon millions of magic bunnies instantly into the pipe to block it.

He's not Superman, and he can't uses his heat vision to seal the breaks in the pipe.

Rome wasn't built in a day, and World War II wasn't won in a month.

If you're so damn pissed, then why aren't you telling the rest of the oil industry to kick in with their equipment and help fix the problem? Once your precious corporations fuck up royally, you want momma government to jump in and make it all better, but otherwise "Hands Off", right?

And to date nothing has improved, what's your point? Granted Obumer did not cause the blowout, but he is responsible for solving it, his own words, and to date no improvement....

He has been slow to act, and this once and for all proves he lacks leadership skills, have you seen that picture where he is kneeling down on the beach touching the sand in suit pants? Jeans, maybe dockers? I thought he had better handlers than this, his term is toast.....

Oh and the cherry on top is sending Holder to investigate criminal charges against BP, Transocean, Halliburton & Cameron....didn't he just tell us BP was in charge of stopping this?

_____________

It seems odd that Obama would initiate a criminal investigation against a company that has been given the responsibility to stop the leak. If the Obama White House suspects BP of being guilty of crimes - why place the responsibility of stopping the oil leak in criminals' hands?

Add to that the distraction of time and resources BP will now be engaged in defending itself from a criminal investigation at the same time it is tyring to stop the oil leak and it gives a great deal of credence to the charge that the Obama administration has treated the oil spill as a political problem, and not an environmental and safety crisis against the United States - a terrible disservice by the Obama White House against the people of the Gulf Coast...
