nice.

I have to go with hot airs statement here , I would just be saying exactly same........

they also have links to several vids of obama saying time after time, paraphrasing them all; the shovels are in the ground...it was BS, he knew it then and yet, never stopped saying so. So, what do you call that?

And of course, this wouldn’t have been news all the time while Barack Obama kept claiming that these “shovel ready jobs” had prosperity just around the corner, right? Brooks says that the admission came in an off-the-record session with the President, which kept him from reporting it. I wonder if Brooks or anyone else would have been that particular had George Bush admitted “off the record” that he knew Iraq had no weapons of mass destruction in 2003 or 2004, while continuing to make the argument that the war was necessary because of them. What happened to sourcing as “a senior administration official”? Did it not occur to Brooks that Obama was lying about these jobs over the past year to defend his economic policies, and that Brooks might have had a responsibility to make that known? Good to know that the New York Times prints all the news that fits — its agenda.

the money shot-

DAVID BROOKS, NYT: Yes. Well, I shouldn’t have confessed this. He said this to me off the record about a year ago. But it hasn’t…

JIM LEHRER: Off the record? So, then you can’t talk about it.

DAVID BROOKS: Yes, because Peter Baker is a better journalist than I am, because I couldn’t get him to go on the record with that thing.

JIM LEHRER: He said this to you a year ago?

DAVID BROOKS: It was obvious. I mean, you are trying to build a stimulus package. And when they were trying to build it, believe me, they would have loved to have filled it with infrastructure jobs. But the projects just didn’t exist. They couldn’t do it. They couldn’t find them.

so now we know way the CBO has a margin of error built in to their "jobs created' possibility stats.....1.4 to 3.3........

Sooooo....the answer to "no shovel ready jobs existed" was to just create a bunch of useless ones and put up signs on ones that were already in motion?

No. The answer was to create a bunch of programs--many fictitious--and take credit for jobs that already existed. Thus the "created or saved" meme.

The fixation on this term "Shovel ready" gets us where?

George W Bush said he was ready to destroy America.

"Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we." --Washington, D.C., Aug. 5, 2004 (Watch video clip)

Obama said he'd visited all 57 states.

Obama said he'd visited all 57 states.

Biden said we had to spend money to avoid bankruptcy. And he wasn't just having a lapse.

It is because Obama made that statement publicly dozens of times about something that did not exist and when we are left wondering about the floundering stimulus he backed out. It is lame to be honest and we knew it was coming. It is Obama supporters that are left wondering what's going on. At least the ones that have not gone completely bonkers and think that the anointed one can do no wrong. In the end it does not matter, we knew the stimulus was crap before and whether or not the sales machine was honest about it in the beginning is really inconsequential.

Gee ya think? I've been saying this from day one. Some will always live in Hopey Changey Fairy Tale Land but many others know that these Socialists/Progressives have destroyed so many generations to come. "Shovel-Ready Jobs?" Yea that's a good one. What a scam.

Barry is one dumb bastard to admit the shovel-ready hoax to anyone.

He obviously doesn't care about Dimocrats fighting for their political lives for having voted for the stimulus, who will now get hammered by their opponents in the closing weeks of their campaigns for having fallen for his b.s. rhetoric.

But on top of that the dipshit has opened himself up to skepticism for the remaining two years of his term. Whatever proposals he comes up with from now on his opponents can rightfully question whether he's leveling with the public or just playing the shovel-ready card again.

This guy's just a colossal dope.

Barack Obama's proposed $1 trillion-plus public works spending package is just an idea, still to be considered by Congress, from a newly elected president who took office Tuesday.

But you would almost think it was already a done deal, from the quickness with which small governmental units around West Michigan have advanced plans for how some of those dollars might be spent.

Share "We were quite surprised and impressed by the speed with which the communities sent their lists back to us, and by the number and scope of those projects," Sandeep Dey, executive director of the West Michigan Shoreline Regional Development Commission, said last week.
