"Reverend Jeremiah Wright appeared on PBS Bill Moyers Journal on Friday night and delivered a knockout punch to the bully-boys in the corporate media. Wright showed that he is neither a fanatic nor an “America hater”; just an extremely well-read and principled man with an unshakable commitment to justice. Wright has also paid his dues; he's an ex-Marine who served as a medic in Vietnam when most of his critics were either hiding behind their student deferments or languishing in the "Champagne Unit" of the Texas National Guard.

Rev. Jeremiah Wright:

"And the United States of America government, when it came to treating her citizens of Indian descent fairly, she failed. She put them on reservations. When it came to treating her citizens of Japanese descent fairly, she failed. She put them in internment prison camps. When it came to treating citizens of African descent fairly, America failed. She put them in chains. The government put them on slave quarters, put them on auction blocks, put them in cotton fields, put them in inferior schools, put them in substandard housing, put them in scientific experiments, put them in the lowest paying jobs, put them outside the equal protection of the law, kept them out of their racist bastions of higher education and locked them into position of hopelessness and helplessness. The government gives them the drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes a three-strike law, and then wants us to sing God bless America? No, no, no. Not God bless America; God damn America!”

No one disputes Wright's summary of US history.""

You will never reach those so stupid as to think that a 30 second clip paints a more accurate portrait of the man than an in-depth presentation. Let's watch the haters start their spew.

True and hard hitting pieces are ignored as we argue trivialities.

He also loves Farrakhan, and refuses to state he has anything but admiration for the guy.

The problem is that it is history. No one disputes that it happened, no one disputes that it wasn't the best years in American history. But it is history. How can one justify an entire religion based on the fact that blacks were treated poorly in history, as Rev Wright has done with his black liberation theology? Is it any different then the Muslims who claim that Christians invaded the Holy Land a thousand years ago and that gives them the right to kill Christians today?

Yeah, its very very different.

One was a thousand years ago. One was 50 years ago.

One is advocating killing them, the other speaking out against them.

See the difference?

History is history. It means it is in the past, it already happened, it's over, how many other ways to I have to say it? If you keep bringing up the past as justification for your actions today, you will be forever stuck in a cycle of stupidity. Learn from the past, don't let it happen again, but for crying out loud, GET OVER IT!

now there's an open mind, if they disagree with wright or me, they are haters...

That was really a brushback pitch, aimed at the people who kept calling Wright a hater on another thread, despite no real knowledge of the man or his background. Call it a preemptive strike if you want.

And it was narrower than you pretended in your response.

You don't sound like you feel guilty enough...quick, you'd better prove you aren't racist now.

He also loves Farrakhan, and refuses to state he has anything but admiration for the guy.

Please show me the proof, Ali. Or is this another one of those accusations you make without proof and then leave?

"I decry racism and anti-Semitism in every form and strongly condemn the anti-Semitic statements made by Minister Farrakhan," Obama said in a statement released by his aides. "I assume that Trumpet Magazine made its own decision to honor Farrakhan based on his efforts to rehabilitate ex-offenders, but it is not a decision with which I agree."

You really don't give a crap for the truth, do you? As long as your posts attack the left, they are fine and dandy.

Is that Jeremiah Wright preaching his Black Victimization Theology?

It's on CNN. They showed him saying it. Try this link, I think it's the one.

This is the pot calling the kettle black, isn't it. As long as your posts attach Bush, you're happier then a pig in a slop house.

And I like how he has to take his cheering section with him whereever he goes. Must be something they teach in theology school because I see all of the big time preachers do that.

"Education, earnings, and health gaps between whites and blacks did significantly narrow during the 40-year period from the end of World War II until the late 1980's. However, from then until the present, progress of blacks relative to whites has essentially stopped, leaving a still sizable distance between the circumstances of whites and blacks."

Why did the progress of blacks stop well short of achieving full equality with whites, and is the slowdown during the past 20 years in black progress only temporary, or is it an indication of what the racial situation will be during the next few decades? The sharp slowdown is surprising mainly because institutionalized and personal discrimination against African-Americans has continued to fall into this century."

Yeah....the good old days....

WWII to 1980...

Tuskegee Syphilis Experiment was going full tilt...

Senator Robert Byrd (D-W.Va.) spoke for 14 hours and 13 minutes opposing the Civil Rights Act of 1964

Governor of Arkansas, Orval Faubus called out the National Guard on September 4 to prevent the nine African-American students from attending class (1957)

Mobs and riots and burning cities seemed to be the norm for a few years...

MLK killed in 1968.....

It boggles the imagination how some hacks can make up their own version of history to suit their fantasies of politics....freekin' amazing :cuckoo: :cuckoo:

It their own fault. It always is. Not only are the opportunities there, blacks have decided ADVANTAGE through un-American Afirmative Action, except in states that now outlaw Affirmative action programs like Michigan and Nebraska. If you are poor and of sound mind and body in this country you DESERVE TO BE. It simply does not get any more clear than that. Blacks, in this day and age, can only blame themselves if they are failing. And Katrina, if it proved nothing else, it PROVED that at least within the poor urban black community, that black community is an UTTER FAILURE, completely unable to care for themselves. And in this country, if you cannot care for yourself, TOO BAD, die and do us all a favor.
