D Senators protect big banks

Clinton started that policy, lying hack leftist

Um,no, you are confused. The CRA had nothing to do with the housing crash. Bush was the one who let anything go at the FEC.

That's what I keep telling you, it was both parties. So why do you only keep mentioning the Republicans?

Because the Republicans are the only ones who don't seem to have LEARNED ANYTHING FROM THE EXPERIENCE.

Hey, 2008. Bad idea. Good thing we put stuff into place to keep that from happening again...

Except the Republicans just repealed those things.

And it was Clinton who specifically started the subprime loan bubble. And yes, the Republicans continued the policy under W

The Sub-prime bubble wasn't the problem. The problem was when the banks started taking those bad loans and selling them as investments, which is what crashed the market. That was what Dodd-Frank was meant to address, and the GOP just voted to repeal.

My God, do you do special exercises to stay this stupid?

The D Party is a bad joke (exactly like the Rs), but the rank and file don’t know it. They are too busy screaming incoherently
...TRUMP
...RUSSIA
...PUTIN
...GUNS
...NRA

All the while ignoring the party’s continued lies, corruption, and screwing of Bernie.

Sad...very sad. This should open eyes, but won’t.

When Democrats like Slick and Barry leave office, they head to Wall Street on "speaking" tours to collect for services provided. And Wall Street pays to signal the Democrats in office what they'll get when they leave office too

Thank god we have a party like the Repubs who get no money from Wall Street and never goes to work for them! :21::21::21:

I would expect nothing less from you.
There are more empty homes now in America than ever before. And that includes non McMansions.
And that doesn't change the fact that the Obama admin bailed out the mortgage providers 100 cents on the dollare, including profits...while kicking out the homeowner.

Uh, first, dude, federal law says we have to cover the banks... it's why we have an FSLIC and FDIC. The problem was that Bush allowed them to make these risky loans to start with. But leave it to you to BLAME THE BLACK GUY!!!

Second, the main reason why we don't plop the homeless into those McMansions is that they would make the situation worse. Hey, all those folks who are paying off underwater mortgages? Let's drop their property values even further by putting a bunch of stew-bums into their neighborhoods! Yeah, that ought to do it!

Clinton started that policy, lying hack leftist

Bush II was under no obligation to follow it.

No, that's why I keep blaming both parties if you read the discussion. Not only did W follow it, but he said it was a bad policy ... then he expanded it. Typical W. Typical Republicans.

But the fact is that Clinton started the policy and Joe only keeps talking about the Republicans

Joey is one of the worst posters on this forum...the guy will defend anything and anyone as long as there is a (D) after their name. You have to wonder just how pathetic someone's life is that they spend hours everyday just trolling around on an internet forum.
Sad really.

And how I know I've won the argument... when they start whining about me personally and make guesses as to what my life is like...

So far, they've pegged me as ex-Jew, ex-mormon, Mexican, Arab, and everything else that scares them at night.

No shit. Pull the stick out. I was addressing the Democrats who claim Democrats are the enemy of Wall Street. Republicans don't claim that.

I've never seen this standard from you where you're obsessed that when Democrats criticize Republicans that they should admit Democrat's faults. Not once, not ever.

Funny how this only appears from you when Democrats are criticized.

On Clinton, you didn't mention it for Joe either. Just me. And I kept already saying it was both parties and he wasn't

Wow that's convoluted. The problem wasn't subprime loans? Subprime loans fueled the housing bubble and the meltdown started when subprime borrowers started defaulting. Of course that was the problem. That eventually enveloped all other areas of the economy, but that triggered and fueled the meltdown.

And Democrats don't admit shit. Like you don't. What have they learned? They already knew how to rewrite history

Actually the sub-prime loans get an unfair share of the blame. It goes so much deeper than that.

The subprime mortgage crisis wasn't about subprime mortgages

Why Sub-prime Lenders Didn’t Cause the Housing Crash

No, dummy, the problem wasn't the subprime loans. They were designed so that the people getting them paid more interest so that the few who defaulted were covered.

The problem was when the banks took those loans, mixed them in with other quality loans, and sold the whole lot of them as 'investments'. Combine that with housing prices being artifically increased by McMansions and house-flipping, and you had a disaster in the making. All of which COULD have been avoided if Bush's crony capitalists had done their fucking jobs and called shenannigans on the banks.

No,I jut call them racist when they say dumb racist things.

I don't worry about 'history".

I worry about what my life was in 2008. Where my Romney loving boss screwed me over and I had to take a 25% pay cut. When the market crash on Bush's watch busted my 401K and the banks put the squeeze on me because they could.

Sorry, man, the GOP was at the wheel when they drove my life into a ditch. I'm finally dug out of that mess, but I had to work two jobs to get back to where I was before it happened.

Maybe you could read what I said more carefully. I said they caused the bubble and their burst triggered the meltdown, but I did not say that was the only thing that happened

And is exactly what is happening now with College Loans.
Just as Sub-Prime lending artificially drove up home prices to the extreme...so is College tuition.
And colleges all over the nation are capitalizing big time. Instead of investing in education related endeavors - universities are instead building housing where they are charging anywhere between $600 - $900 a month for a tiny room and a shared bathroom. They are making a killing. And no one is doing anything about it. And the rest of us suck on it and pay exorbitant tuition and housing so Democrats can pat themselves on the back for giving "everyone a chance to go to college" ...with failure rates as high as 70%.

Dude, you call people racists all the time. And you're whining about insults? Seriously?

Well, in that case, you're a racist.

If you were ever a Republican, you'd know what's not true. As a newly minted socialist, sure, you could blame corporations for our ills. But you would know that the attacks on Republicans as being racists, sexists etc. are false as well as thinking Republicans hate the poor or love guns. And you would know only a portion of Republicans are religious.

You're just a liar. I mean in your terms, a racist

Let's not argue about what CAUSED the Great Recession. That is history now. The point of this thread was that the D Party is completely in the tank for Wall Street and the extreme wealthy TODAY, just like the R Party.

When will D and R voters recognize this reality? It is time to dump both these criminal gangs...permanently.

Again, you are confused as to cause and effect, buddy.

You see, it used to be, these state colleges were subsidized by the taxpayers directly. When I went to UIC in the 1980's, tuition was only about $1500 a year. I could easily have paid it with a minimum wage job, but I didn't even have to go that far, because my membership in the Illinois National Guard came with a scholarship.

Then the GOP decided to shift the burden from the taxpayer to the student. And because students were paying those things themselves, the universities got into an arms race on amenities like the aforementioned campus dorms. UIC didn't even have dorms when I went there, Didn't need them, it was a Commuter Campus where city kids could ride public transportation to get there if they didn't have a car. (I didn't own my first car until after college. Didn't need one.)

Now because they are competing for those tuition dollars, they are more into marketing than educating.

Again, I htink you are a little confused. It wasn't the banks lending to poor people that was the problem, it was lending to middle class people buying more house than they needed that caused the bubble.

If you were ever a Republican, you'd know what's not true. As a newly minted socialist, sure, you could blame corporations for our ills. But you would know that the attacks on Republicans as being racists, sexists etc. are false as well as thinking Republicans hate the poor or love guns. Okay, dummy, going to explain it to you.

If people voted their ECONOMIC interests, the Republicans would never, ever win an election. Nobody in his right mind would vote to work harder for less money.

So what the Republicans did was play on people's religious, racial, and sexual fears. And they got pretty good with it, starting with Nixon, fine tuning it with Reagan and finishing up with the Bush Crime family until Trump started mainlining the racism rather than use the code words.

I think my problem was, I liked to believe the people I supported were good people. When Reagan used terms like "Welfare Queen", he was criticizing the system, not the people. Of course the "Welfare Queen" was just one mentally ill woman who learned how to game the system, but Reagan made it sound like she was the rule, not the exception.

It is appalling what these fuckers in both parties get away with. Our MSM refuses to inform the American people of their criminal actions. The MSM is the Fifth Column, but few Americans know it.

Yawn.... like Americans really want to take the time to be informed.

Hey, here's something you should try. Ask a bunch of your coworkers to name your state's two senators... Betcha they can't.

We're still so far from proper and effective regulations of banks and derivatives that one can only assume that many of our "leaders" have already forgotten about 2008.

As long as we avoid a return to Glass Steagall or something like it, we're not being serious about regulating our financial system.

I can see the Republicans blindly pushing for deregulation everywhere because they're obedient partisans, but having Democrats do this is troubling.

We need to reform our campaign finance structure AND bring back Glass Steagall. This is a joke, and we're gonna pay for it.

This should scare the shit out of anyone who's paying attention: As Credit Booms, Citi Says Synthetic CDOs May Reach $100 Billion
