I'll tell ya, when I was growing up I don't remember Christmas decorations or Christmas anything really until after Thanksgiving. Seems to me Thanksgiving is being completely thrown aside to get to Christmas earlier and earlier every year, and why?

Money.

the stars have alined....

i agree with pale.....why is there all this chrismas music now.....decorations were out before halloween

christians go on and on about the war on christmas but seem to miss the fact that they are the ones killing christmas....beating it to death with commercialism....buy this buy that....i want i want i want

is all this holiday is about for the 'majority' of people...one thing nice about this time of year i do see a lot of charitable works going in....food drives etc....i often wonder why these people only need food during the holiday season.....but a little is more than nothing...

we do the solstice....and christmas....our tradition is one gift per person...there are no 100 packages or average spending of 800 bucks are so on gifts...that is a big chunk of change....

we decorate with lights a small tree (well not so small now) for the solstice and leave it up till new year's day....but we try to make our holidays family ones....not material ones....of course since my family shrank over the last year....its much easier now.....lol

I dont see much change from childhood. The day after Christmas is still the big shopping day. The only noticeable change is the options you have for gifts.
This is the Season for family.

i see a lot of change from my childhood.....(thinking dinosaurs) it was unheard of to put decorations out till the day after thanksgiving....and they were taken down by new years normally.....

but the gifts were there....stacked high

You do have a point there. However, when did it change? I recall the decorations out early when my children were small. When you are a child yourself, you over look so much.

Yup. We had "THANKSGIVING" decorations, and Christmas decorations weren't even thought of until AFTER Thanksgiving, which were taken down shortly after New Years.

Thanksgiving is just completely being ignored. I walked into WalFuck about a week ago and they were playing Christmas music over their PA, and had all their Christmas shit out for sale. I thought to myself... WTF? What happened to the corn shocks? Where's the horns of plenty full of food? Where's the pictures of pilgrims and Indians at dinner? Where's the pictures of a big turkey dinner? WHAT HAPPENED TO THANKSGIVING?

Money. It's all about the filthy, all mighty dollar, and it's sickening. Makes me want to skip the whole fucking thing.

I'd say in the last ten years.

Please provide a link that shows this... that 'Christians are the ones killing Christmas'. Unless you know the religious affiliation of the majority of retailers in the US, this is a bogus statement.

so its pagans and all rushing to the malls the day after thanksgiving? really? or jews...are they big christmas shoppers......

life does not provide links for the obvious

perhaps the opening of stores at 10 pm on thanksgiving day.....

corporations are trying to make money.....christians are trying to do what? i am not really sure....buy as much as they can? how many churches are packed at christmas....people you have never seen before..
