This the right mentality. I like this. I have never called myself a Jewish American or Russian American, Polish American or Eastern European American. I just call myself an American. I wish more people, especially our politicians, would drop the segregation groups titles. No more African American, Hispanic Americans, German American, Muslim Americans, Latino Americans, Italian Americans, Canadian Americans, Haitian Americans, Asian Americans, Jewish Americans, Mexican Americans, etc. We should simply call ourselves Americans, end of story.

"I'd like to say I'm American first...
"Religion does not identify me, I would like to say that," she said. "My family is more of a spiritual family rather than religious. We've never been religious, we've been never known to be religious, and on top of everything, we celebrate Christmas."

Fakih attended a Catholic high school in New York, she said.

"We are Muslim," she said. "However, we appreciate and admire all faiths."

"I want them to know that the United States is not what they see on TV," she said. "It is still a country of freedom and opportunity."

I agree with what you said.

However, I have a problem with what she said in that last line...I bet for the first time in her adult life she is proud of her country. At least now that she has a socialist Muslim for a president though. ;)

I think it could have been worried better, but she was basically saying your country's media defames our (her) country, but that she loves and cherishes the freedom and opportunities her country provides.

I view her as an all American Girl!

I don't blame her...it's tough being a Muslim in America. Too bad she can't be proud of her religious background.

You really are a dense bitch! Its not tough being a Muslim in America! That is you liberal bullshit propaganda! Rather you miss the point as always, that she is very brought to be an American and see herself as first and foremost an American. That is the right attitude!

I guess I just have a problem with it considering it was almost the same exact quote made by Barack Obama during one of the Presidential debates. Also, knowing that we are 10 to 20 steps closer to socialism makes it kinda disturbing.

And she can't be condemning the media because they are now in love with America since Obama is at the helm.
