Third shooting this week after masked gunman strikes on busy road
The plague of gun crime has once again returned to Merseyside after a third confirmed shooting in just five days.
A 42-year-old man was rushed to hospital with multiple gunshot wounds to his leg and torso, after being targeted by a masked gunman in Old Swan.
The attack followed the execution style killing of Carl Russell on Sunday morning and an incident in Netherton on Wednesday that saw a quiet street shaken by gunshots shortly before midnight.
Since Sunday, officers from Merseyside Police have repeatedly stressed their commitment to reducing gun crime as residents in the affected areas ask what is being down to stop the almost nightly violence.
