So of the best TV shows in history were PBS shows...

but they weren't produced by PBS, with the possible exception of Evening at Pops.

I do agree that there is no other way US audiences would have seen stuff like I Claudius, Dr. Who or Anna Karenina.

But that kind of material even so was watched by such a small minority of folks that there is no real justification for taxing people so I could watch really good TV.

And British imports did come in quite a lot. Stuff I saw on PBS in San Francisco was on the local independent station in the Portland market.

If there actually was a market for that stuff, it would have shown up here.


Just because I like it does not mean you have to pay for it.
