Daniel Hannan, British MEP [Member of the European Parliament] warns America not to follow Europe into socialist hell. He is more patriotic than any Democrat. Terrific speech.

Daniel Hannan, who has been a conservative member of Parliament for South East England since 1999, shot to fame among the right in this country for his 2009 European parliament speech that went viral online. “The truth, prime minister, is that you have run out of our money,” he famously told former UK leader Gordon Brown.

He came to CPAC “as a patriotic British conservative” with a dire warning: the United States, in which the British ideal of representative government reached its “most sublime form,” is on a crash course to wind up in a European Union-scope disaster.

“If you repeat our mistakes, if you shift power from the 50 states to Washington … we know exactly what lies in store for you,” Hannan said.

“I am living in your future, or at least the future your leaders seem intent on taking you,” he said. “And believe me, you are not going to enjoy it

“We’re screeching toward the cliff” with a few politicians “desperately trying to hit brakes,” Hannan said. “When we look in the rearview mirror we see you, desperately trying to accelerate!”

"You look at the reforms being undertaken by this [Obama] Administration - they're not a series of random initiatives that have been latched together addidentally - they amount to a comprehensive policy of europeanization.....european healthcare, european day care, european college education, european nuclear disarmament, european carbon taxes....the whole package. And I tell you when you adopt those things you don't just become like any other country....you become less prosperous, less independent, less democratic, and less free."

“My friends, there is still time to turn aside,” he said.

European Socialism has been around since the end of WW2. ONLY Now, after American conservatives wrecked the world economy through their reckless pursuit of an agenda of financial sector deregulations, they now point to proof of their folly as somehow damning to liberals.

BWAH HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!

This is the same guy who launched the UK Tea Party?
How's THAT working out? Got how many members confirming his worldview?
What a soothsayer THIS guy is!

Only the Bush unfunded Medicare "D" mandate falls into social spending.
The rest is tax cuts and wars, huh?

Gee, looks like Bush spent MORE on "out of control social spending" huh?
But Obama is to blame for what you said was cool when Bush was spending it, huh?

Can you say GIANT OOZING HYPOCRITE?
    Sure you can!

And what "socialist hell" are you referring to?
The "hell" where you don't lose you home if you get very sick and can't work?
The "hell" where you pay half as much for better medical care?
The "hell" with good public transportation?
The "hell" where children do better than ours academically?
The "hell" where their citizens live longer and have a lower infant mortality rate?

What "hell" is this person referring to?

Probably the "hell" where rich fucks have to pay their fair share for a change.

So why does Europe have all these things and we don't?

Not to mention European workers enjoy MUCH more time off for vacations and sick time.

See, in order to be SUPERIOR, you have to be able to boast what we have that's better than what they do.

I've named a bunch of things that they do better. Your reply was to say American free enterprise does it better.
But look at the healthcare example. Europeans pay HALF what we do and get better medical care. They live longer and have better infant mortality rates. Those are the undisputable facts of the matter.
Now, how did their "gubmints" do that while the private sector here apparently cannot, hmm?

I will wait while you now sputter incoherently.
