Cowardly Congressman Runs From Townhall Meetings

Don't worry, we have the net. And we know who is backing these Brownshirts. You will see that this kind of tactic will backfire.

Threats are the stuff democwats are made of rockhead,, you gonna "turn us in" huh?

Now--I wonder just whose telephone number will be called in the state of Washington?--LOL.

Push the number 3 (if your number is called) & of course if you are one of the people who NEVER pay any attention to politics in this country--like the 30% that voted for Barack Obama--You probably won't know what in the Hell you're representative is talking about in the first place.-
So if you're caught off guard--just ask him how "enchanting" his job is--LOL--

So now we're kind of like--down to winning the Loto to question our representatives on what their plans are for OUR health care.

I read the article. Baird is not being cowardly. He is trying to have a civil discussion with diverse constituents without running the risk of having a few right wingers wreak havoc as they did in Philadelphia. While he would likely be greeted by many people eager for reform with legitimate questions, he does not want himself and many of his constituents being shouted down by rude belligerent loud groups of right-wingers eager to disrupt an opportunity for such dialog. He simply does not want to get yelled at, shouted at, and jeered at by those that clearly do not want to participate, but who instead try to disrupt such a town hall style meeting and make it difficult for various other people to ask questions or give comments. I think that the telephone method that Baird will use is pretty neat. He will avoid running the risk of having a town hall meeting turn into a screaming match as one meeting did in Philadelphia. Yet, aside from prescreening simply per location and topic (not per political ideology), the calls will be placed on his web site for the public to see. He won’t be avoiding question-answer sessions.

Awww. Now, why is Pam feeling angry and helpless? She still might get through to him if her phone is one that gets randomly selected. Could it be that she wants her 15 minutes of fame by standing in front of a camera while shouting “Boo, Hiss, Liar” at him. Yes, he is your representative and he is perfectly willing to listen. Otherwise, why would he even bother with having a published telephone conference system? Those “well-informed people” opposed to the type of healthcare reform supported by democrats are free to communicate their questions. Yet, those who support such reform will get a chance too. Poor Pam said that she feels that there is a conspiracy to screw up the USA!!! (LOL) Lady, the only possible conspiracy with respect to this “town-hall-meetings versus telephone-conference” issue might be loud-mouthed rude belligerent pushy right wingers who, under the veil of “freedom of speech”, what to verbally insult and shout down practically any civil substantive dialog on the issue of healthcare reform. If it were not for such disruptive shenanigans, there would not be so much interest on the part of people like Baird to resort to telephone conferences. By the way, Baird said that live meetings will probably resume in September, so Pam, you still have a chance to make a spectacle for yourself – if you had not sufficiently done so already.

You will find that these town hall meetings are jammed packed full of democrats & independents. Ones that are scared to death that Obama & this administration is going to tax their health care benefits that they receive from their employers to pay for this plan--"that they do not want."

Recent Gallop & Pew polls show that 52% of the American populace do not want this plan. That means they're not just right wing republicans--no matter how much you would like to believe that. :cuckoo:

Okay. I’ve never read of anyone being literally scared to death over a government bill possibly becoming a law. If people are concerned that the administration might tax their health care benefits, then they (and their friends, coworkers, neighbors, relatives, etc. who have similar concerns) can call the Whitehouse, send letters to the Whitehouse, email the Whitehouse, pool their resources and buy radio/television time, or even attend town hall meetings (that might still occur) and voice their questions and comments in a civil manner.

I agree that 52% of the American populace do not want this plan. I never said that only right wing Republicans oppose the plan. Please read more carefully next time.

Yes we do, Obama and the federal government.

And yes, it will backfire as the polls are already showing, as Obama's numbers tumble like a stone off a cliff.

And I'd like to add, i don't blame him.

Voters & Old people are very hard to deal with when you lie to them and treat them badly, but hiding in his office won't help.

It's nice to see more people who oppose Obama finally getting active on the net. Maybe next time he won't win the election with Youtube vids.

Sorry Obamabots ... but now they have many of us techies and artists (though some of us are still new to the art) working against him. He won't touch the net if he's smart, pissing off the people that made the tool he used is not a very smart thing to do.

As for the congressman, meh ... if it's not online, it's not a real meeting now. ;)

Obama's cronies like town hall meetings when they can control the agenda. They don't like when people ask questions that they either can't answer or know that the answer speaks against them and their idiotic plans.

He's a coward.

Enforcement of "denial of service" tactics by screaming and threatening at the townhall meetings are a form of polical 'sharia' by the GOP.

One good way to handle public disturbances of that sort is being arrested and led out hooded and shackled in front of the cameras.

Democracy works best in calm, informed public meetings, not by a bunch a.z.z.es trying to disrupt the democratic process.

Take a hike.

What happened to that brave dude who showed up to protest Obamacare that was pushed to the ground by a hippy that showed up to beg for money because he didn't have healthcare?
