Doctors who serve Medicare patients are facing a 27.4 percent cut in payments beginning Jan. 1 unless Congress acts to create a "patch" to the 1990s-era calculation for determining the value of medical services.
The perennial "doctor fix" is the latest casualty of the Super Committee's inability to come to a deal on deficit reduction. Without the temporary boost in payments Medicare sets for medical professionals to take care of seniors and the disabled, doctors warn that millions could see their health care choices limited.

The ill-advised cuts to physicians that the doc fix is required to correct are actually a product of Newt Gingrich (see the Balanced Budget Act of 1997), not Obama.

And this will result in doctors retiring and probable decisions on career choices to be limited in medicine.

This is a result of the cuts from the budget and it goes a lot deeper then this. Most affected will likely be medical residency training which is funded by medicare.

    AAMC: Residents

Rather then blaming anyone, a pragmatic approach would be to find a solution.

Remember, when they cut medicaid/medicare, they are screwing with the education and training of your future healthcare provider.
