Luxury Cars are the most profitable of all US Cars. Ford is hoping to global with their line of Lincoln luxury cars. Until that happens, Lincoln, Chrysler and Cadillac must depend on our own market.

Luxury Homes are very profitable and require a large work force with all types of building skills as well those who have the ability to instal the latest technology.

Who can afford these cars and homes?

The rich of course. Does it make any sense to increase taxes on the only people who are in the position to buy luxury homes and cars that increases employment. There are many other companies that benefit from the building of Luxury Homes and Cars. Think of the numbers of employees and services that are needed to maintain Luxury Homes and Autos.

Do you honestly think that the rich will be taxed into poverty? That has never happened and probably never will.

In the last twelkve years you have seen the culmination of not taxing the rich. It has been a prime factor in our squalid economy. How is that working out for you?

No. But it could reduce the number of luxury items purchased in the US as well as the jobs they create.

You just can't fix stupid.

Liberals thought they had it all figured out years ago when they slapped a luxury tax on yachts. It killed the industry destroying 1000's of middle class jobs. The liberals repealed the tax and the industry came back.

Its the perfect example of supply-side economics in action

Usmcstinger, congratulations, you have proven your credentials as a shithead. The rich will always buy luxury cars, no matter their tax rate. The government also gives huge tax credits for buying all-electric cars, which can only be afforded by the rich, and therefor amounts to a big government subsidy to both the rich and to luxury car makers. And, even if somehow the auto unions did manage to make the rich poor, the government would still have taxpayers bail out the unions.

Let's not forget not to long a go Obama wanted to place a special tax on private and Corporate Jets. The President of the union that represents workers engaged in the manufacture of these Planes, let Obama know how many jobs would be lost.

Head up for yas.

Unions don't get to levy taxes.

How's this: folks don't want to join unions.

Results of a recent Rasmussen poll found that 9% of nonunion workers were interested in joining a union. For public school grads, that means that 91% have no such interest. In fact, maybe that means that 9% are public school grads who didn’t learn to read on their own. (Just 9% of Non-Union Workers Want to Join Union - Rasmussen Reports™)

Rasmussen found that even workers in companies who were in danger of losing their jobs, it was still only 9%. What do the 91% know about union membership that the 9% don’t? One can only conjecture.

Now, what can one learn from that?
