ATLANTIC CITY - Police arrested one man Monday morning when an overwhelming and out-of-control crowd forced Harrah's Resort to close its various nightclubs July 5 and cancel a concert the next day.

Officers and security guards escorted as many as 1,800 guests out of the casino's massive venue The Pool after a rowdy line of an estimated 500 people tried to force their way in about 12:30 a.m., city police said.

Celebrity hip-hop artist Sean "Diddy" Combs was scheduled to appear at the club with several other celebrities including boxer Floyd Mayweather and rapper Busta Rhymes, but he did not arrive before management shut it down around 1 a.m.

Weissman said there no serious injuries reported because of the incident, which required the shutdown of all the casino's bars in order for authorities to disperse the crowd of people. Casino officials decided to close even bars not connected with The Pool to prevent the unruly customers flooding other parts of the casino.

Gee. I wonder if Diddy's insurance carrier will pick up the loss of revenue in the entire casino.

This kind of shit causes more racial problems than all the n-words and cracka comments combined. Perhaps the NAACP could help here. Oh wait, they are busy investigating an internet photo. My bad.

What does race have to do with this?

Go to any concert where the headlining band doesn't show up. People get pissed.

Really? That's the first time I've read this happen in A.C. And it wasn't that the band didn't show up to the concert. They were "rumored" to be hanging out at the Pool.

C'mon Art. Do you think a bunch of "crackas" go to a rap concert? Whether or not you or I think it's a race issue, is irrelevant. The people spending money at the casino saw 500 mostly black people trying to crash through a door to a very posh bar, and force the evacuation of innocent people spending a ton of money on a vacation.

Frankly, I don't think they'll be invited back. Just a hunch.

What does it matter if it was mostly black people? Were the white ppl that were participating motivated by race too? Clearly you have never been to a hip hop show or a nightclub where celebrities are supposed to appear because plenty of white ppl show up to see their favorite hip hop artist. EVERYONE gets pissed when the headliners don't show up ... be it at an appearance, a hip hop show, or a metal concert.

Oh, and they were scheduled to appear.

Normally it is on the venue to provide proper security. If Diddy's concert was canceled he'd be within his rights to sue the casino.

You're right however the "concert" was the next day. He was scheduled to appear at the Pool which I assume was just a meet and greet. It is a bar; not an arena.

Let's just say the fans did not behave appropriately, and will most likely not be invited back. Since the "40/40 Club" was opened next to Caesar's there have been numerous violent episodes. Good for you if you think it's not racial. But many, many people don't think like you.

Yeah, I know that there are many people who just assume ******* are always looking for a reason to riot.

Chanel, I'm surprised at you. Rap is the music of angry young people of every race...I dunno why you posted this Op. So angry young people got angry and acted out? Big surprise there.

I've read other posts you've written and you seem so together and compassionate....what happened
?

Ya cause we have no historical reference to think blacks riot over just about anything. Right?

I rest my case.

Rap is not just the music of "angry young people". These were adults - over 21. The Pool has a $25 cover charge. The drinks are very expensive. The patrons there are hardly "poor inner city youth".

My compassion extends to the vistors to Harrahs who had to be evacuated; the casino workers who lost money; and the taxpayers of Atlantic City who had to pay for the extra police.

Even if we PRETEND that rap music has NOTHING to do with black culture; my question was: Do you think rap fans can make rap stars unemployable?

BTW - my son is in an "alternative rock" band and plays in some rough neighborhoods. No incidences of violence at his shows. But when they have rap artists....

These issues need to be addressed and people who are concerned about black crime are not all racists. Sheez.

Though maybe Chanel can tell us that it's all black people's fault.
