Could anyone else in Kim Davis' office have issued those licenses?

Having trouble getting answers in other threads.

Let's keep the partisan absolutism out of this one, just once, please.

Her deputy clerks are going to issue licenses beginning today, why couldn't they do this yesterday, or the day before? Did she have managerial control that prohibited that? Couldn't she have just stayed at her goddamn desk and have someone else fill out a freakin' form and stamp it?

Pretty obvious, clear, direct question. Anyone?
.

Absolutely. That would have been the perfect resolution. That would have meant that the licenses issued to gay people were just a little bit different than those issued to straight people. No harm, no foul. Right?

Yes, the deputies could have issued the licenses but she ordered them not to issue any.

They were afraid of her and afraid of losing their jobs if they did issue the marriage licenses from what I have gathered.

The judge has told them to issue the licenses now and if they don't they will face the same penalties.

From the following article:

Ms. Davis’s appearance before Judge Bunning, and her subsequent detention, was a signal development in a case that surfaced soon after the Supreme Court’s ruling in June. Faced with the ruling, Ms. Davis, an Apostolic Christian, directed her office to stop providing marriage licenses to any applicants.

They could have brought someone in if they had to. they move these government people around all the time. but noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo that somehow couldn't be done for this lady.

this is just a test folks, you better wake up is all I can say

Silly woman, time she should realize heathenism has won the day and fallen in line with the judgment of five old men and women telling the rest of us what to think.

She ordered them not to...this was found out yesterday when the judge questioned the other clerks....5 out of the 6 (not her son) stated they would be willing to do so, but did not before because Kim threatened their jobs.

Do all of you grasp the hilarity of the fact that this crazy woman is now taking the position that she'll in fact issue the licenses if they just take her name off the certificates?

Having someone else stamp the damn form would have been the perfect compromise, and everyone would have gotten on with their freakin' lives.

The lady keeps her God thing going, the couple gets married, all is right with the freakin' world.

Ooooh, compromise, the hardcore partisan ideologues just can't have that!
