CDZ Could a concealed carry gun owner have saved lives on the Max Train knife attack?

What-ifs are fun!

Someone firing off rounds in a crowded train...what could go wrong?

You mean other than 2 people being stabbed to death?
Yeah, what if...

And of course the examples posted, the studies we posted.......you can just ignore all of that information.....especially the video of the guy with the knife surrendering to the guy with the gun during the robbery......

No one on the train had a gun....2 people died, one is in critical condition.....again, tell us how bad it might have been if someone had pointed a gun at the guy and ordered him to stop.....
If that was the scenario that happened...it would be a good thing.

Yes....too bad no one on the train had a gun to stop the murders....

A carjacking in Houston, Texas, turned bloody when an armed good Samaritan opened fire on the car thieves but hit the carjacking victim instead, reported Raw Story:

As the men struggled with the car-owner, a passerby produced a gun and fired multiple shots, missing the thieves but striking the victim in the head.

Oh...goodie......you finally found one.......now you just have to find 1,499,999 more...since Americans use guns to stop violent criminal attack 1,500,000 times a year...according to bill clinton and barak obama.......

And while you wheel out the exceptions.....here are some actual facts about Americans.....4.7 million of them carrying guns in 1997 to 15.7 million in 2017, carrying guns for self defense....

We went from 200 million guns in private hands in the 1990s and 4.7 million people carrying guns for self defense in 1997...to close to 400 million guns in private hands and over 15.7 million people carrying guns for self defense in 2017...guess what happened...

--gun crime down 75%
--violent crime down 72%

Gun Homicide Rate Down 49% Since 1993 Peak; Public Unaware

Compared with 1993, the peak of U.S. gun homicides, the firearm homicide rate was 49% lower in 2010, and there were fewer deaths, even though the nation’s population grew. The victimization rate for other violent crimes with a firearm—assaults, robberies and sex crimes—was 75% lower in 2011 than in 1993. Violent non-fatal crime victimization overall (with or without a firearm) also is down markedly (72%) over two decades.

I'm addressing your OP.
The correct answer is "Yes, but equally there could have been more people dead or injured".

A man standing at a bus stop is recovering at home after being wounded by a stray bullet during a shootout between a shop owner and an armed robber on the South Side, according to police.

The shop owner, who has a valid concealed carry license, was closing his cell phone store for the night about 7 p.m. Saturday in the 3300 block of West 79th Street in the Ashburn neighborhood when someone with a gun approached and tried to rob him at gun point, police said.

The shop owner, who was with several employees, pulled out his gun, and the two began shooting at each other, police said.

During the exchange, a 27-year-old man at a bus stop across the street was shot in the chest, police said. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he was treated and later released. The robber fled and no one else was reported injured

I would say one life could have been saved if a cc was in the same car. From what I read about the attack a cc would have reacted either during the first or post first.

I'm sorry, how does this prove whether or not a concealed gun owner would have saved lives on the train?
Wasn't that your original question?

I would say one life could have been saved if a cc was in the same car. From what I read about the attack a cc would have reacted either during the first or post first.

Nope.

Guns are almost always faster than knives and the attacker would not have to be as close.

He would likely, or certainly could have killed many more, just we usually see with gun nutters.

Or ....

Are you idiot RWNJs really saying that only good guys sneak around with hidden guns?

In some liberal cities and states they do.

Good guys don't sneak around.......criminals carry illegal guns all the time, especially now that police are no longer making non-911 calls...........the criminals feel free to pack guns all the time now...

For the next part......if you had been on that train...would you have wanted to have a gun?

The Yankee Marshal gives commentary on gun issues and since he lives in the state where the two men were stabbed to death...he points out that had someone on the train been allowed to carry a gun......those lives might have been saved....

Facts are hard to kill. Someone anyplace in the world can stop any sort of attack with a good handgun that is the truth. This is why in the US crime is not out of control, except when no CCW person is not there. Many times guns stop or reduce the violence how can anyone come up with any other answer?
