Today, however, in an interview with ABC News, the same Stu White completely contradicts the Washington Post story:
While the Post reports White as having “long been bothered” by the haircutting incident,” he told ABC News he was not present for the prank, in which Romney is said to have forcefully cut a student’s long hair and was not aware of it until this year when he was contacted by the Washington Post.

Is there any evidence that this story is true and not a fabrication?

LOL, he just remembered it, even though it's bothered him for a long time.

This isn’t the first time Philip Maxwell has spoken to reporters about young Mitt Romney. However, this does appear to be the first time he’s mentioned a “very disturbing” story he’s “carried with me a long time.”

Maxwell, describing young Mitt Romney, to the New Republic, four years ago:

“On weekends, those guys had a set of chores, and there wasn’t a whole lot of extra time,” recalls Phillip Maxwell, who first got to know Mitt when they were in the fourth grade together. “Their father was a real taskmaster – very fair, but he instilled real discipline.”

Maxwell is quoted again in that book, describing Romney:

“He wasn’t an athlete, which was tough on him, because other members of his family were,” says Philip Maxwell. “He just wasn’t coordinated in that way.” Other classmates remember Mitt as young for his age emotionally, at least by Cranbrook standards, more popular than admired, a “happy-go-lucky guy” known less for his achievements than his pranks – like the time he and some friends borrowed a state trooper’s uniform from his father’s security detail and pulled over students from the neighboring girls’ school.

The fact that Maxwell didn’t mention the alleged bullying incident in previous interviews about Romney’s high school years doesn’t necessarily mean it is untrue or exaggerated. But it is interesting that only when Romney is the Republican nominee do his classmates remember and tell reporters about this incident.

However, this old book does give Romney opponents a new scandal to hype: Young Mitt impersonated a police officer!

Mitt Romney Outed As Anti-Gay High School Bully

By Adam Peck

Jason Horowitz spoke with five students who attended Cranbrook School at the same time as Romney, and all of them independently recalled the same story.

Really then why wasn't anyone concerned about this in 2008's primaries? No one thought to bring this up then?

How about when Romney was running for Governor?

Why the silence? Why the crickets aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaall these years?

Why wait till 2012?

And from the Romney campaign....

" In response to the Post story, the Romney campaign today released statements of two other students who attended Cranbrook with Romney.

"Mitt was a thoughtful guy with a great sense of humor who cared about his classmates. He had a good perspective on how to balance all the pressures high school students face. He would never go out and do anything mean spirited. Clownish, yes. Never mean," said Richard Moon, a classmate of Romney's.

"Mitt never had a malicious bone in his body - trying to imply or characterize him as a bully is absurd." said John French, another Cranbrook classmate."

I don't know. Maybe you should ask the reporters...

Perhaps there was money involved, you know instead of hush, hush money it's lie, lie money. :)

Yes...Let's ask the people who've been caught making up shit out of whole cloth.....Lord knows they have a rep for telling a straight story that's beyond reproach.

Maxwell said it was important to bring this up.

So why hadn't he and others brought this up before? Romney ran for Governor. Lots of time to stop this "bully" from becoming a Governor.

Where the hell was this dude in the gruelling primaries for the 2008 election? It's not like Romney's been out of the public eye or anything.

If he felt it was so important, where the hell was he with this "story"?

Over 10 freaking years of Romney being in the public eye running for office and lo and behold Maxwell only speaks out now?

FIVE people corroborate the story ad now Mitt wants some or more of them to lie for him.

Yep, its gonna get nasty but President Obama won't have to say a word. Just sit back and let Mitt dig his own hole.
