A 22-year-old man will serve four years on probation for fatally shooting his friend in March 2016.
Austin Fair pleaded guilty to criminally negligent homicide and evading arrest. He received four years of deferred adjudication probation for each charge as part of a plea bargain.
That arrangement means, should he successfully complete the terms, his punishment will not be considered a conviction, under Texas law.
