(ETH) – In a very disturbing report, 328 Americans that spent weeks in quarantine aboard the Diamond Princess reportedly boarded flights with at least 14 passengers infected with the coronavirus. This comes after the U.S. State Department had promised that no one with the infection would be allowed to board the planes. This decision came as a choice between either letting them all fly or leaving them behind in Japanese hospitals. According to MSN, a fierce debate broke out:

According to NBC News, These US citizens are being asked to stay home for two weeks for precautionary measures.

The patients should have been evacuated separately in a medevac airplane that would deliver the sick people in a closed facility until they recuperate fully. They may have infected pilots, stewards and stewardesses, and the unexposed unless they portioned off a sickbay in a plane that would not circulate infection air into the body of uninfected passengers. Tens of thousands of infected patients with all sorts of communicable diseases, some much more virulent than COVID19, are in Metropolitan hospitals around the US right now. Quarantine procedures are quite effective against COVID19.There is no need to panic.

You won't get it from eating Chinese food, wearing clothes made in China, or using an Chinese-made phone. You won't get it from walking past a hospital with an infected person inside.

What do you think we should do with infected American citizens? Leave them in a foreign country indefinitely? Or maybe just strip them of their citizenship?

I don't know what the isolation procedures were for the returnees. Do you believe patients who tested positive were allowed to sit with uninfected patients in the plane?
