So were the Democrats on the defensive? Almost certainly, and they framed their entire convention as a rebuttal precisely because of that issue, whether by including speakers of a type the GOP ignored, or by tailoring their negative message to directly rebut the GOP’s positive message, or by scheduling speakers to appeal to particular swing demographics via policy, rather than via common origins. And the contrast could not be clearer – Republicans want voters to think they will look out for them as Americans. Democrats want voters to think they will look out for them as individual groups.

Did the Democratic National Convention Copy the Republican National Convention? | TheBlaze.com

Did the Democrat's convention copy the Republican's convention? I can't recall people at the Republican convention saying no to God.

It was clear to anyone who watched both conventions.....that the GOP was more disciplined and more focused on facts and details than their Democratic opponents.

The decision makers over on the Dem side are certainly reeling from the schooling hat the GOP gave them. The overwhelming negativity of the DNC event cast a pall over he attendees and made it difficult for them to even fake a smile.

Romney and Ryan....as evidenced by the torrid pace of their post-convention appearance schedule....are most certainly capitalizing on their clear victory in Tampa.

I bet the Democrats are just dying for a do-over of their universally panned convention.

Obama widens lead over Romney despite jobs data: Reuters/Ipsos poll | Reuters
Sep 8, 2012 4:14pm EDT
(Reuters) - President Barack Obama, picking up support following the Democratic National Convention, widened his narrow lead over Republican U.S. presidential challenger Mitt Romney in a new Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Saturday.

The latest daily tracking poll showed Obama, a Democrat, with a lead of 4 percentage points over Romney. Forty-seven percent of 1,457 likely voters surveyed online over the previous four days said they would vote for Obama if the November 6 elections were held today, compared with 43 percent for Romney.

"The bump is actually happening. I know there was some debate whether it would happen... but it's here," said Ipsos pollster Julia Clark, referring to the "bounce" in support that many presidential candidates enjoy after nominating conventions.

President Obama's post-convention bounce has grown in a new Gallup poll released Saturday.

Gallup's daily tracking poll has Obama at 49 percent support among registered voters to GOP candidate Mitt Romney's 45 percent.

The new figures show a 1-point increase for Obama from Friday's results and reflects voter sentiment after the final day of the Democratic National Convention.

Back in the real world, the Democrats were completely on the offensive. Instead of doing the usual Democratic thing of apologizing for their own policies, the Democrats showed some spine, and trumpeted Obamacare, women's rights, workers' rights, and the whole platform. Plus, the Democratic convention was a wildly positive celebration of America, in comparison to the very negative GOP convention that more resembled a funeral.

And it worked. Unlike the pathetic 1-2% bounce from the uninspiring Republican convention, the Democratic bounce is currently in the 4-6% range. And it's still climbing, as the rolling averages get filled with more post-convention days.
