Some of Obama's requests for compromise have been along the lines of, "I am going to burglarize you house. I was planning to start in the living room. But if you want me to start in a different room, I am willing to take your suggestions into consideration."
How do you compromise with something like that? Answer: you don't. You barricade your house and fight with all your might not to let him get his foot in the door.
