"CONSERVATIVES" love illegal immigration

I live in California. In the short period of 5 years, I have seen this area turn into a seething craphole full of illegal Mexicans.

Historically a Democrat, I originally voted for Gray Davis for governor of the state. Eventually, I came to hate the man. I believe that illegal immigration is wrong and should not be rewarded. Davis signed a bill giving illegal immigrants the right to in-state college tuition. With this, illegals would only have to pay around $5k per year instead of the $20k per year paid by non-state residents!!!

Astounding isn't it? Say you lived in Ohio. Even if your family had been in the US for 150 years, and fought in every major American war, if you wanted to attend college in California, you would have to pay $20k per year in tuition. An illegal would only pay $5k. This was the first straw.

The second straw was drivers licenses for illegals. Davis wanted them, I did not.

The last straw: Davis wanted to give free community college tuition to illegals.

I was outraged. The only way I felt I could send a message was to vote for his recall and to vote for Ahnold. I wish I had voted for McClintock tho (he was even more strongly against pandering to illegals and their lobbyists).

NOW HERE IS THE QUESTION. If the conservatives on this board think illegal immigration is wrong and is harmful to our country, how can they vote for Bush? Bush supports an amnesty for illegals. I voted my conscience in the Davis recall. Why don't "conservatives" do the same and get rid of Bush? Is it just a matter of not being able to say that they were wrong?

Clash, most conservatives are not happy with the proposed amnesty bill. In fact, it is a major point of contention. I don't think that conservatives in the House will ever let it pass. However, we conservatives are voting for Bush because he is actively fighting terrorists, which is the most important issue for most Americans.

Under what precise conditions does Bush support amnesty?

Uh. Haven't mastered the internet yet huh? It's called a search. You can go to any major browser and type in a few keywords like "bush" "illegals" "amnesty", and low and behold, you can start doing a little research.

Or, since you seem a little rusty, you can just click on the link below.

Sorry gop, but we live in different areas of the country. I live in california, and i kid you not, the most pressing issue here is illegal immigration. Neither Bush, nor Kerry are going to do anything about it, so I am just not going to vote - unless some candidate, any candidate, promises they will tackle the problem head on.

Agreed, but some with certainly try to make it a wedge issue with the Republicans.

Hey, its your thread, I was just asking a question. No need to become smarmy.

I am conservative. I live in California. Out of 50 or so people I polled at my job, more than 3/4 wanted McClintock to win, but voted Arnold....(who wants to give illegals licenses as well, now). They all, but 3 voted for Ahnold. What good did that do? They claimed they didn't "want to throw away their vote" since McClintock wouldn't win anyway.

So they threw away their vote on someone who would win anyway. Figure that one out.

That being said, I AM conservative. The Republicans are not. Until they quit acting like Democrats did 20 years ago, they are liberals. The Democrats are now socialists. It is a slope of no return. If you want true conservatives anymore, you need non-compromising people like Constitutionalists in office.

People have been decieved into believing republicans and democrats are different hence the confusion and debate back and forth although both parties achieve the same results. Bush is protected because he has done a better job than Davis in covering his butt.

The reason I asked the question clash715, was to put into context your assertion of Bush's support of amnesty. As you wrote the question:
If the conservatives on this board think illegal immigration is wrong and is harmful to our country, how can they vote for Bush? Bush supports an amnesty for illegals.
, one could assume that you meant Bush supports amnesty for any and all illegals. I was just asking for clarification from you, since you were the one to bring up the subject. All you did was provide a link.

That is a total cop out. Don't be such a pussy. If "your" party does something that pisses you off, vote them out. I did!!! That was the entire point of this post. You are sooooo afraid of Republicans being "divided" that you are letting "your" party get away with bloody murder. Grow some balls!

It's political manuvering, a wedge issue the dems will most likely use. Parties and canidates run on many issue. Immigration my be your only issue, good luck finding a canidate that will make it his sole priority.

You got that right newguy. Everybody I know that voted wanted to vote for McClintock, including me. We were all afraid of giving the election to BustaMecha though. I feel like we really let down McClintock. I think he was a good man and I think he would have helped our state.

What are you talking about? You better start taking your anti-paranoia pills again, because your imagination is getting the better of you. Listen mtnbiker, not everything is some giant conspiracy to unseat Republicans. Get over it. I am talking about doing the RIGHT thing. When it comes to pandering to illegals, both democrats AND republicans are doing it. We need to send a message to BOTH parties that it is unacceptable.

Its very simple if the dems(Kerry's campaign) percive that immigration is a weakness for Bush it will be exploited. With that attack on immigration they will do their best to try to divide Bush voters.

so, let me understand this.

a whole bunch of registered republicans wanted mcClintock, but voted for arnold anyway because they were afraid of Bustamante winning, right?

wow, that sounds an awful lot like 'anyone but a democrat' (substitute bush in there and what do you have?)

and to top it all off, you did what your party leaders wanted you to, and you still got screwed. sound familiar to anyone?

That is nothing new, republicans or democrats alike...voting for someone over your favourite because you know your favourite will not win - and you don't want the other party to win. Old stuff.

Democrats voted for Kerry towards the end even though they disliked him - why? - Because voting for Edwards to them would have been a wasted vote. Nothing new there.

As for Bush, I am not too sure what the stipulation is for legalizing immigrants. I thought it was they had to have lived in this country for so many years and have paid taxes throughout that time. I believe that was something Clinton had planned on doing also but it never happened.

So you are left with the two choices - (oh and Nader too) - you don't want Bush because he wants to legalize illegals so you vote for Kerry - but what does Kerry stand for? He has no consistancy - why vote for someone who can and will change their mind about an issue-many issues? I guess you could vote for Nader than!

So you'd rather have a president Kerry amnesty or no amnesty? I'm also a native Californian and the fact that under any circumstances and at any time you would cast a vote for Gray Davis says a lot about you and that you are probably full of crap and just trying to bait people here. People who voted for Davis in the general election are sickening. You I believe don't really believe the positions you are arguing, Democrat:rolleyes:

Here is a simple answer to your question. I don't vote for a president based on one issue alone. Do I agree with Bush's immigration policies, no, but I do agree with him on most other issues, something I can not say about the others.

Bush supports the illegal invasion because

1) He's a wealthy bonesman from Yale whose ranch in Tejas will be protected by the Secret Service until he sends them away. He has nothing to worry about, personally.

2) He believes the Messicans will vote for him. But he's wrong. They vote D. That was Karl Rove's idea. Karl is getting to know the Hispanics up close and personal these days. Guess what, asshole? THEY HATE YOUR WHITE ASS! Lord, save us.

3) He doesn't give a crap about working Americans crowded about by the invasion.

4) His corporate supporters like the cheap labor, but live in castles themselves, so they don't have to worry about their daughters getting gang-raped by five Mexicans in Queens.

5) He's a "colorblind conservative" who does not see that race matters, and that the influx of that many non-whites will be disastrous for whites specifically and America generally.

6. And, he's an idiot.

7. Did I mention he's a coward? He's more interested in kissing the Wall Street Journal's ass than protecting America.
