Conservatives Are Happier Than Liberals. Discuss.

Or the old elitist pissants. They're even worse. Generally they're on welfare, too. Or work in a university.

This is what I mean, I have never heard Allie say one thing that is positive or happy, no posts that are good, nothing unless it is denigrating another. If that is your happiness keep it.

Sorry, I live in the most conservative state, have been raised in the most conservative family and work with some of the most conservative people. You can't convince somebody if you cant't even agree on the proven facts. Lets just agee that North is North.....oh you say thats South....ok nevermind

Maybe you are holding the map upside down?

Oh man, I've been wrong all along.

Seems reasonable to me. The Truth shall set you free. Why would a free man be unhappy?

That is too easy, are bums and the homeless happy? They are certainly free. Are the poor? Freedom is a meaningless concept outside of potential.

"Next time you hear a conservative ranting about the wonder and joys of freedom, tell them: "Yeah, no kidding, freedom is a really good thing. You'd like it even better if you actually tried it out some time"."

David Michael Green: If Conservatism is the Ideology of Freedom ....

They arent free. They have a very limited set of choices. and why?

Perhaps from mental illness
Perhaps because they refuse to accept the truth that work is necessary
Perhaps because they've bought the lie that they are victims
perhaps for many other reasons.

Free people have options and the truth gives people more options.

Of course this is true. Liberals are always worried about what STD they might have.
A lot of truth to that statement. I came across this article about a week ago.
New HIV Study: Half Of All Chicago Gay Men, Two-Thirds Of Black Gay Men Unaware They Were Infected

A first-of-its-kind study looking at HIV infection rates found that half of gay men in Chicago who have HIV did not know they were infected, and two-thirds of infected black men were unaware.

In addition, infection rates for black men were more than twice the rates for whites and Hispanics.

The results of the Chicago Department of Public Health survey are sobering, officials say, but not unexpected.

"It's a terrible thing, but it is not surprising," says Jim Pickett, director of advocacy for the AIDS Foundation of Chicago. The statistics prove what some organizations, including the city, have been seeing for several years: That gay black men are among the fastest growing groups to test HIV-positive.

The Chicago study found that more than 17 percent of gay men in Chicago have HIV; 39 percent did not get tested in the last year because they were worried about the result.

Almost 600 gay men from across the city were tested for HIV/AIDS and interviewed about their lifestyles, including questions about drug use and number of partners. Ninety-one of the subjects tested positive for the virus.

Thirty percent of gay black men in Chicago tested positive, the study showed, while Hispanics and white men had rates of 12 percent and 11.3 percent, respectively.

A quarter of blacks aged 18-24 tested positive. More than 37 percent of blacks aged 25-34 - the highest of any age group - tested positive. The numbers are similar to national figures.

STDs On The Rise For Older Generation
Sex and older generations: it's not a topic that gets discussed much, not even in the doctor's office. But some physicians say that needs to change, because older patients are leading active sex lives — and their rates of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) may be on the rise.Whatever the cause — Viagra, midlife divorce, online dating or simple ignorance — studies suggest that STDs are no longer just an affliction of the young. A study published online last week by the journal Sexually Transmitted Infections adds to that growing body of evidence. Researchers at England's West Midlands Health Protection Agency found that in less than a decade, STD rates had more than doubled among people ages 45 and older. And Dr. Babatunde Olowokure, an author of the study, thinks that figure may be low. "These observations are based on a small proportion of people who actually attend clinics," he says. While that proportion of the population has increased overall over the past decade, Olowokure points out that middle-aged and older people tend to delay visiting a doctor for treatment of an STD, or they avoid it altogether, in large part due to the stigma associated with sexually transmitted infections.

In their study, Olowokure and his team counted 4,445 infections (excluding HIV) reported to 19 clinics in the region. From 1996 to 2003, total cases of chlamydia, genital herpes, gonorrhea, syphilis and genital warts among people over 45 increased 127%, from 344 cases in 1996 to 780 in 2003. Rates of STDs increased in patients under age 45 as well, by 97%, during the same time period. In the U.S. the most recent Centers for Disease Control and Prevention figures — which include prevalence of syphilis, chlamydia and gonorrhea — reflect relatively stable rates of infection in people ages 55 and older, but that data relies on self-reporting, and in many parts of the country it is out of step with what physicians are seeing. "Our rates of syphilis and chlamydia are up across all ages," says Dr. Sharon Lee, a Kansas City, Mo., family physician and medical director of HIV Wisdom for Older Women. According to a 2000 study of Washington State residents, one of the only comprehensive analyses of STD infection among the middle-aged and older, cases of gonorrhea increased 18.2% between 1997 and 1998 among people ages 45 and older; in younger people, that increase was 17.3%. continued......

STDs on the Rise in America By: Allie Montgomery
Published: Friday, 16 January 2009 Today, it is very important that we protect ourselves against any disease possible, especially the ones that can be prevented. However, in spite of our prevention efforts, new cases of some of the most common sexually transmitting diseases (STDs) are still on the rise.

The new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, “Sexually Transmitted Disease Surveillance 2007,” stated that minorities and women in particular are much more likely to have STDs. Experts are not surprised by this fact, as previous studies on STDs have also shown that minorities and women bear the greatest burden of STDs. The age of those that are affected by the STDs hasn’t changed much either. Approximately 19 million new sexually transmitted infections occur annually, almost half of those affected are between the ages of fifteen and twenty-four.

The Centers for Disease Control began a national syphilis elimination program during the late 1990s, which was targeted at African-American heterosexuals, especially mothers and their babies. As a result of this program, the condition was nearly eradicated as an ongoing health problem for people in the United States. Dr. John Douglas, who is the director of the CDC’s Division of STD Prevention, stated that within the last two years, the trend has reversed. He also said, “The success we’ve been experiencing from a number of years in African-American heterosexual populations, particularly women, is beginning to erode.”

Syphilis started to resurface as a danger in 2001, and the cases went up by 15.2 percent between the years 2006 and 2007. The reported cases of gonorrhea and chlamydia together surpassed 1.4 million in the year 2007. Both of these sexually transmitted diseases can cause infertility when left untreated. The CDC will be addressing the rates of HIV in the United States in a later report. continued.....
Hepatitis C spreading rapidly amongst HIV-positive gay men in Amsterdam
Michael Carter, Wednesday, August 05, 2009
Dutch investigators have found further evidence of the continuing epidemic of hepatitis C amongst HIV-positive gay men. In an article in the July 31st edition of AIDS researchers in Amsterdam report an 18% prevalence of hepatitis C co-infections amongst HIV-infected men attending a sexual health clinic and a high incidence of new infections with the virus.

Use of the recreational drug GHB and anal-brachial sex (fisting) were risk factors for infection with hepatitis C. However, there was no evidence of a hepatitis C epidemic amongst HIV-negative gay men. Preliminary findings of the study were presented to the International AIDS Conference in 2008. continued.....

The criticism of Alli's points of view is spot on. Stop the negativity, Alli, and grow up, please. And maybe a better chair will not only help your back but also your outlook.
