The United States
Conservatives are, regardless of all their objections, Republicans. They can espouse anything they want and show all the differences between them and Republicans. In the end when all is said and done they will vote Republican. This makes them Republicans.

Explain Dan Boren.

you can be a conservative and yet fall into several parties, GOP, Libertarian, etc. So if you are a conservative and you vote Libertarian you would be considered a Libertarian because of who you support. If you vote Republican you are a Republican.

You're wrong, can you honestly call McAin a conservative? No you cannot. He crossed the isle so many times in the past to create law with the progressive left it's not even funny. So no, conservatives are not always republicans. As a matter of fact, I would say that maybe only half of republicans are true conservatives "And that would be pushing it". Remember Obamie using Mcains crossing the isle to work with the left so much during the 2008 campaign? "True conservatives would not work with the left on radical bills that violate our constitution".
On the other hand, by the signing of Obama care the whole democrat party proved they are nothing less then fascist progressives. Only the ones they didn't need votes from and was running for re-election in 2010 did not vote for it, but had the left needed those votes they would have walked the plank to get them.
Dont kid yourself, the biggest threat to America and our constitution right now is the progressive left that we call the Democrat party, and also progressives in the GOP like Olympia snow and Lisa Murkowski "Who stole an election by way of false absentee balloting" and also Lindsey Graham who is not fooling anyone outside of his district.

I've voted for Democrats in the past. I guess that makes me a Democrat. Who knew?

:dunno:

Alot of you are stuck on this partisan politics crap, it;s no longer a "D" or and "R" thing, because the progressives "Communists" have infiltrated both parties and are working together to bring this country down.
Right now you have to make a choice, you are either for the constitution or against it. And you need to vote accordingly, if you consistently vote for dipshits like pelosi and reid, you are apparently against the constitution, if you consistently vote for dipshits like MCain or Murkowski, your are against the constitution.
It's no longer a party line issue, most on both sides of the isle are a huge threat to this country, and you need to make a choice on whether you will allow them to continue to be a threat, or take our country back and vote them out in 2012 and 2016. If this country fails because you vote party line, then it's your fault and noone elses.
Socialism has not worked in one country it has ever been tried in, and as a matter of fact, it was never intended to work, it's intention is to wreck and bring down an economy, to stifle creativity and individual liberty and prosperity. If you study history and take off the koolaid goggles, you can see for yourself this is true.

Then what do you call the conservative dems labeled (blue dogs) ?

Typical idiotic leftist thinking. Stop worrying about what other people are or are not. Focus on your own life and other people can decide for themselves what they are.

Which isle did McCain cross? Maui, not that's too large, maybe Key West, that's an easy walk for a man of his age.
Oh, and please define 'fascist progressive'; as a registered Democrat I'd like to know what I believe which makes me one. I'm used to being called a demorat or libtard by other morons, but never before a 'fascist progressive'. Help me out, it's always good to know what people like you thi ...oops, believe.

LOL. Read your post very slowly Ms. Pot.

You are painting with a pretty broad brush, but I understand what you are saying. When all of the RINO name calling became popular, almost every talk radio host began calling themselves "conservative", "libertarian" or "independent". if you were to pry their wallet out of their pocket, you know you are going to see Republican on their voter registration card and you know they will not be voting for the green party candidate in an election.

I consider myself a libertarian by ideology, but I'm registered Republican. The reason is that my state has closed primaries and if you want to vote, you need to be a Democrat or a Republican. Republican most closely aligns with my political beliefs, but I vote for candidates based on their merits, not their party. I vote for Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians and Independents depending on their stances on issues important to me. I've never pulled a straight party lever in my life and never will.

All I'm saying is that...

You can call yourself anything you want, and that is up to you. However, when you step up to the plate and you put on the Republican uniform and you vote Republican, wether you are a liberal or a consrvative or a moderate you are called a Republican.

Well, I am glad that's settled.
LOL

So labels are more important than issues? if one labels themselves a a conservative, or liberal, libertarian or independant does that mean one must adhere to a specific dogma (and therefore hate all others who are labeled differently)? Seems to be the case if this message board is representative.

What's wrong with being pragmatic? Sometimes taxes need to be raised. Sometimes programs need to be eliminated.

And it would be appreciated if sometimes some would offer what they consider are the most pressing problems facing us today and suggest a solution outside the box of whatever dogma they hold as immutable truths. A little imagination can go a long way.

Republicans are mostly all tax and spend politicians just like their counterparts on the other side of the coin.

Time for a Balanced Budget Amendment.

By this trend of thinking.

All socialist and communist are Democrats since that's who they will vote for.

Thanks for helping to clear up the obvious.
