Conservation vs Drilling

I'm the delusional boob and you say that Obama wants to destroy our nation... dude, I keep waiting for you to hit rock bottom with your arguments but now I am thinking there are no limits to your stupidity...

Again.. if a person stands for things that are not what the country was built to be... that person is not about protecting what this country is... turning the country into a wealth redistribution state based on the principles of marxism rather than freedom, is not protecting this country...

Your support of someone who believes in those principles shows there are no limits to your stupidity and your gullible nature

I don't think he wants to, but I think his policys could have that effect. An economic disaster waiting to happens. THats what I think of Obama's policies.

According to a GAO report universal healthcare will save us $200 billion dollars a year. Withdrawing from Iraq will save us another $200 billion....that works out to $1.6 trillion saved over Obama's first term. And that does not even include conservation measures for energy and the development of alternative energy.

An economic disaster if what we have now, my friend.

Sure you go right ahead.. have you seen the Olympic atheletes arriving in Bejing with masks on... Masks needed why? Fashiion statement or to protect the lungs from burnt fossil fuels...

Does China have a Clean Air Act like the US?

I am not saying that its untrue but I would like to see the link for the GAO report?

How much do terrorist attacks on U.S soil cost? How much do under-qualified doctors/nurses/specialists cost? How much do 70%+ taxes cost you every paycheck? How much does it cost to support people who can't support themselves cause they are lazy? How much does it cost to bail people out of their home loans because they were never qualified in the first place?

feel good politics? it made the pubs feel good. it was an actual practical step to dealing with gas prices.

when is the last time anyone checked the pressure in their tires?

your initial premise "I suspect most Americans are trying their damnest to economize on their energy costs." is completely contradicted by the your follow up thoughts. "It's going to take most of us some time to change our lifestyles."

honestly i'm loving the sky rocketing energy costs. bourgeois pigs need to wake up.

Oh for goodness sakes, people, do get a clue.

While I have no doubt if you're braindead enough to allow yourself to drive around on tires that are badly underinflated, infalting them to the proper pressure might make a difference if you drive a LOT.

What I'm talking about is the arterial bleeding some of us do heating our homes and keeping the lights on. Things that aren't easily fixed by a two minute trip to the tire pump, but which require major changes in heating systems, replacing appliances and so forth.

Comparing those energy savings to the pittance in savings one might make from just keeping your tires inflated to the right pressure (one thing saner people have always done, anyway) is simply absurd.

who is talking about a tax rate over 70%?

Are you talking about the clear skies act.... that W signed... cause that actually rolled back pollution controlls that were penned by Carter in the Clean Air Act, that would have taken effect last year.. If I am not mistaken it allows power companies to carry on with their poluting ways for another 30 years... Charlotte NC (where I last lived) continuously had poor air quality during the summer months.. many days they recomended not going outside unless you had to.. WTF... Thank you TVA and Gee Dubya...

Now back to the point, which country the US or China is bringing a "Clean Coal" power plant online first?

When asked about the air-pressure issue during an appearance Tuesday night, McCain said: "I agree with the American Automobile Association. We should all inflate our tires." Obama had noted that keeping tires inflated and cars tuned was endorsed by both NASCAR and AAA and should be part of any comprehensive plan to reduce reliance on imported oil.

Yes, it was. I can't be held accountable for the fact that the Republicans find tempests in every teacup.

Last month.

No, it isn't. I don't know what school of verbal logic you went to, but I'd demand my money back if you really think that one can't be trying one's damnest to get something done, and still not be able to do it all because you lack the funds.

Well I'm fairly far from bourgeois, champ, and given that I live fairly modestly to begin with, there aren't a whole of of easy fixes available to me to drastically alter my carbon footprint.

I think I can speak for a lot of Americans in that same boat, and I'm sorry of that confuses you.

The only thing that's going to get inflated under either of these two idiots' watch, is the money supply.

In early March 2005, the bill did not move out of committee when members were deadlocked 9-9. Seven Democrats, James Jeffords(I) of Vermont, and Lincoln Chafee(R) of Rhode Island voted against the bill; nine Republicans supported it. Within days, the Bush Administration moved to implement key measures, such as the NOx, (SO2) and mercury trading provisions of the bill administratively through EPA. It remains to be seen how resistant these changes will be to court challenges.

Clear Skies Act of 2003 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Btw....
Passing Clear Skies legislation would provide immediate health benefits – emissions trading under Clear Skies provides incentives for power plants to reduce emissions early.

Clear Skies is a mandatory program that would dramatically reduce and cap emissions of sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen oxides (NOX), and mercury from electric power generation to approximately 70% below 2000 levels.

Clear Skies would provide health benefits faster, more certainly and at less cost to America's consumers than would the current Clean Air Act.

Nationwide, Clear Skies would deliver unprecedented emissions reductions from the power sector without significantly affecting electricity prices for American consumers. Clear Skies would deliver certainty and efficiency, achieving environmental protection while supporting economic growth.

The mandatory emission reductions using Clear Skies' market-based cap and trade programs build on Clean Air Act programs to facilitate achievement of human health and environmental goals. Clear Skies will enable many State and local governments to meet national standards for fine particles and ozone.

Components of the President's Clear Skies Act

The Clear Skies Act:

Establishes federally enforceable emissions limits (or "caps") for all three pollutants. Clear Skies' NOx and SO2 requirements affect all fossil fuel-fired electric generators greater than 25 megawatts (MW) that sell electricity. Mercury requirements affect only the subset of these units that are coal-fired.
Uses a dynamic regulatory approach – emission caps and trading – that provides power plants with flexibility to reduce emissions in the least costly way.
Maintains the authority of state and local government to set source-specific emissions limits for sources within their borders to ensure that ambient air quality standards are met.
