Consequences of personhood amendments - which define personhood as beginning with conception:

- It would be murder to abort a pregnancy to save the life of the mother and in the cases of rape and incest - intentionally aborting a pregancy would be murder in all cases.

- Identical twins would become legally defined as a single person.

- Chimeric individuals would become legally defined as two persons.

- I would not be legal to send a pregnant woman to prison - as to do so would deny the Constitutional rights due to the person living inside of her

- Consuming any amount of alcohol during pregnancy - even a light amount under counsel of a physician - would be contributing to the delinquence of a minor (yet any sentencing for the offense to prison could not begin until after birth (see above))

- Welfare mothers would be able to claim they have another dependent from the moment of conception - they would not have to wait until birth.

- Where children are not admitted for free, pregnant women could be charged double admission to everything - including airline tickets.

EDIT-

- Candidates for President, Vice President, and Senate would meet the age requirement by being 35 years since birth minus 9 months at the time of election.

From AmyNation
- every miscarriage would have to be reported to the legal authorities, just like every death of a person. A death certificate would need to be issued - meaning a person could have a death certificate but no birth certificate!

Do the idiots that write these proposed laws actually want these things to happen - or are they just bad law writers?

Many types of hormonal birth control would become illegal.

All miscarriages would need to be reported to the proper authorities for investigation and would need a death certificate.

Many types of in-vetro would become illegal

Imagine that - a world where someone could have a death certificate but no birth certificate!

Actually I think all in-vetro would be illegal.

We'd have to create some sort of law that limits the number of times a woman can miscarry before she's liable under the law.

She may be liable for even one miscarriage. Another relative of the embryo - the father for instance - could sue the mother for wrongful death on the embryo's behalf. If a jury could be convinced the miscarriage was due to any actions of the mother, intentional or otherwise - she'd be found liable and have to pay damages to the father! Indeed ALL miscarriages would be subject to scrutiny by the civil and criminal justice systems just as the death of any other person would be.

?

Well yes of course! That's right there in the Republican platform - no abortions, no exceptions. It's not like they hide this fact. They put in their plank that outlines their beliefs, for God's sake!

In vitro would be perfectly legal....If and only if every embryo divided, every embryo was implanted and everyone survived.

Every time a woman had her period the results would have to be analyzed to make sure she didn't abort a child.

We'd have to determine if she contributed to the miscarriage. Did she ride a bike, recklessly endangering the child? Have sex, recklessly endangering the child? Eat a donut??? The list goes on.

Would their birthday be the day they were fertilized, and you would have to get a Social Security card for the um, child?

Pregnant women can drive in the car pool lane, but get a ticket for having two people per seatbelt and two people behind the wheel.

A lot of people will get to retire 9 months early. That should be an excellent way to solve social security and medicare shortfalls!

This is the consequence of telling children they are smart even when they can't tie their own shoes.

You are correct. This is exactly what anti abortion laws are leading to, and amazingly, the anti choicers don't seem to care.

They’re partisan zealots and ideologues – they know such legislation would be struck down as un-Constitutional if enacted, as in Oklahoma.

Rather, such proposed legislation is designed to be used as a political weapon and energize the base.

Its not my party that's writing these proposed laws. I love it how the right wing doesn't believe the laws they write actually say what they say. If a fertilized egg is considered a "person" by the law then everything outlined above would be true.

Or maybe they are priming themselves to get ready for a time when Roe V. Wade can be overturned, and the issue gets sent back to the legislatures, both state and Federal.

Roe V. Wade is based on implied rights, not specific ones. Given a struturalist enough court it can be overturned.

Either your brain came up with all that absurdity you call consequences or you stole it from someone, either way, my point stands.
