If they paid for their travel out of their own pockets, 1) taxpayer money would be saved and 2) they wouldn't travel nearly as much, thus emitting less C02 and other pollutants. How green! It'll never happen. This is probably all Bush's fault anyway, right?

That's a GREAT point! These people wanting to tax CO2 are the one's putting the most CO2 in the atmosphere.... Imagaine that our politicians being hypocrits....
