(CNSNews.com) - During his speech at a National Press Club luncheon, the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Democratic Congressman John Conyers (D-Mich.), questioned the point of lawmakers reading the health care bill.

“I love these members, they get up and say, ‘Read the bill,’” said Conyers.

“What good is reading the bill if it’s a thousand pages and you don’t have two days and two lawyers to find out what it means after you read the bill?”

It should be an absolute requirement that our lawmakers read AND understand every bill they debate and vote on.

This is just a replay of the 787 BILLION dollar economic stimulus bill that no one actually read. After they signed off on it--we found out there were a lot of things in this bill that we really didn't like.

Maybe these massive new spending bills should be put in cliff-notes--in that way these idiots would have at least a minut-smidgen of an idea of what they were committing the American public too.
