so far from what I have read liberals hate these things in America. Republicans
Bush, Cheney, McCain, Palin, Hillary (And anybody else who disagrees with them) rich white people, capitalism, our healthcare system, most of our laws, christianity, Fox News, Talk radio, our healthcare system, and guns just to name a few Things are American. Liberals will try to rid themselves of them, they have said so. Therefore the conclusion is liberals hate America. They want to make it something entirely different than what it is. So, they have put forth a candidate who like liberals grew up with a pastor who taught him to hate rich white people, capitalism, a friend who would help him try to radicalize education in Chicago, a friend who hated America so much he bombed her buildings and hurt some of her people. The liberals have put forth a candidate who would take money from the rich and redistribuite it to the poor, who has voted against citizens carrying concealed weapons, who has said "without Fox News I would be furthur ahead in the polls." Liberals have put forth a candidate who would take on global poverty and expect the American taxpayer to pay for that fight to the tune of 850 billion dollars. Yep, there could be something to why the congressman thinks liberals hate America.
Do you oppose capitalism? Economic freedom is the truest form of freedom.
Do you support gun control? The right to bear arms against our gov't assures us all our other rights.
Do you acknowledge that your rights as a citizen as enumerated in the Constitution are God given and inalienable? (ie, gov't can't take your God given rights away, but is capable of preventing you from exercising them)

You and I don't agree on what is 'American' Willow; and to me that is exactly what America is all about.
'Everything' is American - your view of capitalism is just as American as my belief that the people have a right and a responsibility to use government to both encourage business and restrict business, based not on profits for the rich but what is good for everyone. Our ability to discuss our beliefs in public forums is what makes you and I uniquely 'American'.
How much free enterprise do you really want? Do you support absolute freedom in commerce? Would you defend the 'right' of a recreational drug trafficker to do commerce, How do you distinguish what is recreational vs hard core drug trafficing?or is a little government restriction warranted in that industry? by free enterprise I mean the ability of a person, oh say a candle maker or a cookie maker to be able to go into business with minimal interference from the government. We need laws to regulate for sure, but you and I both know that small business in America has a tough time with regulations, taxes. So no, not unfettered freedom but make it as minimal as possible and still protect the public welfare.
Would an entrepreneur who was making money and paying taxes running a whorehouse in your neighborhood make you a little more 'liberal' in your thinking about the peoples right to curtail business? I don't have a problem with legalizing prostitution. Hell yes, let them pay taxes too. Conservatives want to restrict business that pollute their sense of right and wrong... Liberals want to restrict business that pollute their environment.

No, actually. Free trade is the opposite of government interference and taxation.

PS. My brother is a VP in a manufacturing company. They are finding out that unions are all over the world. Dealing with labor in other countries isn't that much better than dealing with American unions. What happens when India shuts down for a month because of their summer holiday?
