Congress' Job Approval at New Low of 10% - Yay! Tea Party!

It is difficult to pinpoint any specific recent actions that may have led to the continuing deterioration in Congress' image, particularly because much of the political attention in January and early February has focused on the Republican presidential race.

Perhaps.

But the fact that Senate democrats and the WH are willing to enter into good faith negotiations and House republicans are not – and Senate republicans’ goal is only to ‘get rid of Obama’ – it’s clear the TPM and republicans in general are responsible for nothing getting done.

The American people want Congress to address the Nation’s issues, not engage in pointless partisan politics as republican have since 2009.

What the fuck ever, you pompous ass.

I swear, if you were any more partisan you would amputate your right arm!
He knows as well as everyone else that the Democrats have never entered into 'good faith' negotiations with Republicans. It is just a talking point without any validity to it.

Right the only time a dem had any "good faith" was when Clinton was dragged to the table with Republicans in Congress he was forced into his good faith because it needed to be done to stop abuse for one. I don't expect to ever see good faith seems all the Dems in DC are far ass left, and follow the commie far left vote like healthcare take over how stupid is that? A lot imo its a certain disaster

And the notion that ‘both parties’ are ‘equally responsible’ for the dysfunction is nonsense.

Democrats are partisan but not outright obstructionist, as have been republicans.

How soon many forget the credit rating debacle, where a simple, procedural non-issue was contrived by the right into a pointless ‘crisis’ that resulted in the needless downgrading.
You have no credibility at all. The Democrats are sitting on over 40 bills passed by the House. That IS obstructionism. In fact, it is the very definition of obstructionism.

How soon many forget that a procedural trick was used to pass a healthcare bill that no one wanted.

It cannot be shown, with any credibility, that the GOP has obstructed anything the Democrats have put forth. The cowardice of the Democrats does not fall upon the shoulders of the Republicans.

If the bills you bring to the floor are the right thing to do, then you go forward and force the opposition to actually commit to a filibuster instead of just caving in on the faint sniff of one.

Cowards, their name is Democrat.

ALL those bills the senate refuses to allow to come to a vote are little more than useless political stunts that the republicans knew would never pass in the first place. Why would you expect the senate to pass a bunch of crap that is little more than republican policy statements? The house republicans certainly didn't when they drafted and passed a bunch of corporate giveaways in the first place.

Exactly. Dingy Harry Reid is protecting the party and Obama...precisely to pin it on the other guys. I stated months ago this was thier strategy.

Not going to easy for any of them to win reelection in the 2014 midterms. They can't point to any real achievements or even any run of the mill federal spending in their districts as a reason they deserve to go back for another term of sitting there like bumps on a log. Two years of mostly symbolic votes on political bills that have no chance of passing is the worst kind of masturbation.

I wish it wouldn't be easy for them to win. Our senator Orrin Hatch easily defeated his opponent Dan Lillenquist - granted, Lillenquist is a Tea Party doofus. Six years ago, Pete Ashown, the democratic opponent kicked his ass up and down the debate hall and Hatch still won by a two to one margin. The people of Utah are like goddamned drones when it comes to voting republican. The only credit I can give them is at least seeing the error of voting Tea Party last time.

Who the fuck said anything about expecting all of them to pass?

Oh, that would be.... YOU.

I'd just like to see the chickenshits in the Senate DEBATE them and VOTE on them, but Harry Reid & Co. haven't even got the balls it takes to put them on the floor.

THAT'S 'obstructionism'....

They really suck. I don't know how we as Americans continue to let them get away with this bullshit. What about ethics and integrity? Doesn't anyone care about this anymore?

I thought u liked the dems?

It appears they have been the party that has lost the most favor.

In many ways, this is a good thing. People are coming to realize that government, or more specifically, those who run government year after year, do not have their interests at heart. These continued low numbers will (hopefully) lead to a populace that stops looking to the corruption of government for answers, but instead, seek to solve their problems without government.

The only drawback to this is that we still allow elected government employees far to much power over our lives.

That is what needs to be ended. We need to begin to limit and reduce the amount of power that elected officials have over us and return them to their rightful place as a mere 'public servant'.

We all have the 'power' to limit their time in DC, it's called elections. We need more folks willing to kick their own representatives out, as many 'tea party' folks did last election and will again in 2012. Indeed, the more local the more focused they are in electing those they believe will truly represent them, not the office holder or party.

Democrats and Independents should also take a hard look at their representatives and asking if their opposition to the other party is worth the poor decisions they are making. Then vote.

It's Going to happen here. Senator Bill Nelson can start packing his bags.

This is what happens when the public (their employers) don't hold any of them accountable..

I think the poll shows people who identify themselves as democrats having lowered approval of Congess as a whole.
