Sadly this link will likely be buried by highly partisan threads on this board. But for those willing to read it, it highlights why reforming college athletics is not a waste of politician's time.

The Shame of College Sports - Magazine - The Atlantic

The exploitation of college athletics and the corruption of college sports has gone over the top. Congress needs to become involved and provide a choice: a college environment with an expense cap that protects the rights of student athletes or a truely market based model where athletes are free to sell their services in the open market.

The current status quo is untenable.

'Congress needs to become involved and ...'

Like, when have they ever played ball? They are life time lawyers.

Coaches are paid more than any other "teacher" in America. Kind of shows where our educational priorities lie. Many instances of wrongdoing would be solved by simply paying coaches a little less and paying college athletes some money to get by on.

The Miller Brewing Company pays for most of the education of college atheletes.

Go figure.
