Congratulations President Obama

Is relentless poverty for two years straight, with no end in sight, an accomplishment?

Maybe you could detail what YOU would have done differently to restore the tens of millions of jobs lost during the eight years previous to Obamas administration. That is something I never see the NeoGOPers spell out. I know what Ike would have done but you johnnie come lately christian fundamentalist fuckwits never seem to offer up a better scenario...other than giving MORE money to those that need it the least. You probably weren't around when we enjoyed our greatest prosperity and the millionaires paid 90% on the money they made from the wealth they enjoyed. That was before the constant fear mongering and the lying that is all you asswhipes that stole my party are capable of.

Something you idiots never seem to get is by extracting the money supply from those that would use it to invent, innovate, produce, manufacture and support their local communities economies and allowing the super rich to invest in speculative markets with that money supply you have destroyed our economy and the future of our country. Thanks.:clap2:

Tens of millions of jobs lost under Bush? Were do you get the #? Jobs were created during the Bush administration; you're full of shit. And don't give me any #s from a wacko lib site. Look... Bush spent too much and Obama is spending more, and millionaires never really paid 90% idiot there are always way around that with the stupid tax codes we have we need a flat tax on everybody. And I don't qualify as a Christian fundamentalist jackass.

@Rozman

You seem a bit misinformed about somethings...

"Healthcare and insurance reform..... no one in government knows what's in it"

It's not the Health Reform that anyone wanted, including Obama. What the US needs is a single-payer system [you know, the kind that works in nearly every other country in the world!] Well, you can thank the GOP for not going for single-payer. Too many wealthy lobbyist would be upset by that.

The main benefit of single-payer is that you get rid of all profits, which makes up for any imagined government inefficiency many times over. 80~85% is better than now, but 97% is way better. Too bad it’s socialist and will destroy us all–I mean, what would happen to America if insurance companies couldn’t skim hundreds of billions of dollars off insurance premiums? Capitalism would collapse! Just like it has in every country in the world with single-payer insurance!

"Wall Street reform...... Who cares?"
Ummm...everyone who got screwed by the banks during the Dubya Economic Collapse of 2008.
That would be about everyone in the States, wouldn't it?

"Food Safety Act..... my food tastes the same today as 2 yrs ago"
Oh, that's good. You won't mind those hazardous toxins used in the new fertilizer then....

"Credit Card Reform........... This one I liked."
We agree there.

"START treaty........... If Russia liked it, probably bad for us."
Wrong again. This one IS good for us. It keeps inspections active because letting it lapse who have allowed cheating on both side. The only reason the GOP didn't like it is that
a. they don't like anything that makes Obama look like a competent president
b. they didn't bother to read it and therefor didn't know what was in it (that's kind of their job, you know)

"first responder healthcare bill....... Would have passed sooner,Dems had stuff
in there like huge fees for attorneys. Republicans wanted more of the money to go to
the first responders not the Doctors and lawyers."

Oh you mean it had "pork" in it? You right, the GOP never adds pork to get bills through Congress....NOT!
It's clearly a bill that Americans overwhelmingly support, but again, it makes Obama look like he's making America a better place. They cannot stand to see Obama succeed, so they filibuster and roadblock until the cows come home.
In short, they are willing to put firefighters' health at risk inn order to promote their anti-Obama agenda.
Isn't it obvious to you by now?

"the stimulus......, You mean the Joke...."
No, I mean the one that brought back millions of jobs lost to irresponsible GOP spending and lack of oversight. Before attacking the stimulus [which no body particularly wanted] consider what might have happened without it. Dubya should kiss Obama's boots at this point for stepping in and taking responsibility for a downward spiraling economic disaster.

"Tens of millions of jobs lost under Bush? Were do you get the #? Jobs were created during the Bush administration;"

The chart of jobs created under Obama's watch is available on many websites [stats are from the Bureau of Labor Statistics]

Try this:

So you might also try watching something other than FOX network. Their agenda is to just to make Obama look bad, nothing more.

"Look... Bush spent too much and Obama is spending more"
Actually, Bush spent too much *THEREFORE* Obama is spending more. Many believe this current mess may have taken us beyond the point of no return. Spending more to stimulate the failing economy is no longer a choice but a necessity.

"and millionaires never really paid 90% idiot there are always way around that with the stupid tax codes"
And, tell me, who has made every effort to block Obama's attempts to change those tax codes? Hint: their initials are GOP.

"we need a flat tax on everybody."
Well that's a start, but as you pointed out, the wealthy do not pay their fair share of taxes since they have overseas non-taxable accounts and are good at finding loopholes.
Obama has been very aggressive about getting the wealthy to pay their share. Keep the tax cuts for those making under 250K, and raise the tax rate to 38% to those making over that. Sounds reasonable to most of us getting squeezed by corporate interests.
But again, the GOP is standing in the way of tax reforms that could pay off the massive deficit. How many millions does does one really need to live comfortably? Jeez!

Talk about being misinformed what should happen nis cut federal spending no more free hasndouts.

"In case you haven't notice those countries are having to make cuts and people are protesting."
Yes, I've noticed that. I have also noticed that everyone in those countries gets health care. Have you noticed that many here do not? Have you also noticed the rise in insurance rates? Have you noticed their profits seem to be astronomical?
I see clearly, my friend. There is a problem that needs to be addressed. The time for Single-payer has come.

"Making a profit is a companies life blood. You you work something for free?"
No one said we cannot have profits. But look at the influence those corporations have over our politicians. Those politicians work for you and me, and yet somehow we get ignored.
So if you want to defend corporate interests, that's your decision. But I believe those billions in profits could be better spent on education, clean environment, a balanced budget...

"I don't know if you're misinformed or out right lying A compay's margin of profit is 2 - 3%"
Yes, I meant to say "corporations", not companies. We both agree "companies' profits are reasonable. That's not who I am complaining about. Unfortunately, every time we try to get corporations to pay their share, the GOP defends them. Let's draw a distinction between corporations and "small businesses"

Um.........the reason those countries are rioting.......is because their gov'ts can no longer afford to do stuff like give them all free health care. See, thats the concept, that "Eventually you run out of other people's money". So.........the system crumbles eventually.

Everyone here gets healthcare. It's a myth that they don't. ER's are mandated to care, and ER's rarely turn away anyone. Even illegals with the sniffles get free care (they don't pay for it, ever).

Also, hospitals have a "life or limb" list. So if a patient can't afford a procedure, but "A life or limb" is at risk, they do it anyway and the person is just responsible for the debt. Yep, it sucks. But dying sucks worse. So you got medical bill payments for life. But you got life. Best healthcare in the world. Our doctors can save lives far better than any other. I'd take this system over any other. My mother is now in debt for a long time due to cancer. But she's cured and alive. In 99% of the rest of the world she wouldn't be.

Thank God for the profits that funded the research that led to her being able to be cured.

@BigReb
"Just how could the GOP stop anything? The democrats had a super majority when the healthcare vote was happening."
What? Are you kidding me? Have you never heard of a "filibuster?" My God, man, where have you been?
A GOP filibuster is ASSUMED before anything can get passed. That's why even if we can get ALL Dems in the House to vote on sth, it gets lost in pointless bickering by GOP who can't stand to see Obama succeed.
You gotta get real if you wanna have a meaningful discussion...

@bucs

Well, we may disagree about where health care funding should come from, but I see you hold your ground in spite of its cost [financially and otherwise] to your own family.

There's a lot of abuse going on in most health care systems. I say, if the govt can keep medicare going for those over 65, they can get sth similar for the rest of us. The system is already inplace; we just need to expand it. The insurance companies won't like that, but sooner or later, we have to take the insurance out of the picture. They are motivated by profits over our well-being. That is the govt's job...

Anyhow, I sincerely wish your mother a speedy and complete recovery!

Merry Christmas!

But I believe those billions in profits could be better spent on education, clean environment, a balanced budget...

I believe those billions in profits could be better spent rewarding the investors that risked their hard earned wealth in the future of the corporation.

Then I believe the people who were smart enough to invest wisely will be able to decide for themselves how to spend their earnings.

Quite frankly, "Balancing the budget" or throwing Billion$$ of good money after bad, sounds very unwise until budget spending has been dramatically reduced.

@Jroc

Actually, Bush spent too much *THEREFORE* Obama is spending more. Many believe this current mess may have taken us beyond the point of no return. Spending more to stimulate the failing economy is no longer a choice but a necessity.

:cuckoo:Now thats got to be one of the stupidist things I've ever heard. The more money that is taken out of the private ecomomy, the less there is for people to spend, invest, create jobs and spur ecomnomic growth

And, tell me, who has made every effort to block Obama's attempts to change those tax codes? Hint: their initials are GOP.

When has obama ever supported a structural change in our income tax laws? Oh...You mean raisng taxes on on So called "rich people" how the hell is that changing anything? you can't raise taxes on people who create jobs.

Sounds reasonable to most of us getting squeezed by corporate interests.

Who are you to tell people how much money they can make? And we'll see about getting some real tax reform now with the new congress, I don't think it's going to come from Obama though. And yep..The corporations cozy up to all these politicians no matter which party, The reason is too much big government which equals "croney capitalism"

"When has obama ever supported a structural change in our income tax laws? Oh...You mean raisng taxes on on So called "rich people" how the hell is that changing anything? you can't raise taxes on people who create jobs."

Well, that's the point. The wealthy should be creating jobs, but they don't. You're still buying into the "trickle down" theory that has been proven time and again to fail.

So when I said it was not longer an option but a necessity, it means no more excuses and no more B.S. It's time the wealthy took some responsibility for why the middle class is working harder and still getting poorer.

In spite of all the work Obama has done to bridge the gap between the middle class and the wealthy, there are still an astonishing number who still say, 'let the wealthy get wealthier'. I'm sorry I cannot agree with this since their is a certain responsibility that come with that kind of wealth. If you look around, it is not hard to see the conditions this lack of responsibility has created.

And yet, some you still continue to blame Obama for the country's woes. All I can say is, "remarkable".

Why don't you take a hard look at the people who have the power to change things, but do not? Look closely at the GOP protecting their wealthy friends and corporations.

That is where the finger should be pointed, NOT at Obama.

Give that tired, BS, socialist, DNC talking point a rest pleeeeease!:doubt:

Your "Epic Failure" is sheer nonsense to the thinking individual.
Get off your arse and take some responsibility for change. Too much watching FOX crap on TV distorts your reality.
Stop waiting for Obama to create miracles out of thin air. He doesn't have a magic wand. tHIS IS REALITY, not a TV drama. He only has a vision and it only works when everyone pitches in.
If you cling to the cronyism and corruption of the Dubya days, you will miss the big picture and end up on the wrong side of history.
The catalyst for change is here. Either get on the boat, or get the hell out of the way!

Sorry to see you've missed the whole point. Let me break it down for you:

You can blog and complain about our President all night, but won't lift a finger to help the middle class.
"Not my problem" is your thinking I suppose.

THAT is not govt failure; that's YOUR failure.

You're thinking, "I'll just sit on my duff until corporations open a job slot for me."
And what happens when they don't open a slot for you? Then it's whose fault?

Our country has been screwed over by years of neglect, irresponsible policies, massive corporations and billions of your dollars are going on a pathway to nowhere thanks to them. It's all about the wealthy sending your jobs overseas and keeping profits in offshore accounts. The wealthy are not creating jobs. Take a look around. If they were, we wouldn't be in this mess, would we!

When you finally wake up and realize this IS your problem too, it will be too late...
