COMPROMISE?

Black mailing is more like it than compromising. Reich wing-nuts said if there is no tax breaks for the wealthy, there will be on tax breaks for the middle class or any one, no unemployment extension for the unemployed, no nothing said the party of NO.

Reich wing nut’s compromise it “our way or no way.” and privatize everything. Remember it was the “government bailed out of "private industries” that saved the taxpayer?

"Working with us"is just another way for Reich wingnut to say "Our way or no way."

The right wanted tax breaks for everyone and the left wanted unemployment benefits extended, and they both got what they wanted....sounds like compromise to me.

And of course, the net result is a punishing increase of our national deficits. See, now everyone suffers! ;)

It's time to do what's unpopular and raise everyone's taxes AND cut spending simultaneously, but too few politicians are interested in sacrificing their political power to do the right thing.

Here's the problem with your solution........"cut spending simultaneously" It ain't going to happen. Higher taxes only means more spending (without reducing the deficit) with the politicians.

As I said, what's right and what they're willing to do to stay in office are mutually exclusive actions.

Absolutely right. This wasn't compromise it was payolla.

The ONE thing the parties can agree on is to steal and spend tomorrow's money today.

Which is why they are criminal cartels and not representative government.

The Dems had a super majority and could have passed AnyThing without a single R vote. So that means they didn't have enough Dems to pass anything ~
:cuckoo:Can't blame the Republicians ~ They were the ones Compromising

Liberals had 60 seats in the Senate.

The right wanted tax breaks for the rich. Your corporate master have tricked you again. The unemployed were the middle class. What good is a tax break if you don't have a job? Besides, where were the millionaires screaming for a tax break? Only the millionaires in congress and they are called "Republicans". They got their tax break.

but i thought they lost the 60 seats in the senate when ted kennedy passed away and scott brown, a republican, got his seat, no??

How does it feel to know that the Liberals objecting to keeping everyones taxes the same have no problem raising poor and middle class taxes as long as it hurts the rich as well?

well, that would have been the fiscally responsible thing to do, at this point....

we overspent and borrowed $ 6 trillion in just the Bush years and another 2 trillion since then....

Do you believe that you don't have to pay your bills? That you can borrow all you want and just renege on paying it back?

No. I simply understand that you pay things back, not by forcing the people to labor more, but by cutting the spending that is likely 80% unnecessary and merely going to the friends of those in power.
