Comparison: Prison Levels in my State vs. Norway

Recently, I had read a article from Time about the opening of a new prison in Norway.

Norway Builds the World's Most Humane Prison - TIME

Halden, Norway's second largest prison, with a capacity of 252 inmates, opened on April 8.

I found these numbers to be astounding. So I decided to look up the number of prisoners in Norway and found on a daily basis, they have around 3,272 prisoners.

One-quarter of prisoners in Norway are foreigners - Aftenposten - News in English - Aftenposten.no

25% are not even from Norway.

In comparison, I live in a small state, and a decently sized small town. The prison in my town has over 3,800 prisoners. Now, these are not just prisoners from my town.

However, my state has a population four times less than Norway.

Just some food for thought.
